Re: Welding Newbie

nice work, might be better if you can twist the sides of the eggbeater a bit more I think to produce more turbulence. but I think na matibay nga yan 😮

Dalhin mo minsan dito sa akin yan pag napadaan ka ng Pasay. Sandali lang i twist ng konti mga sides niyan, me oxy ace torch ako. Initin natin... parang papel lang sa lambot ang bakal na yan pag nagbaga

Re: Welding Newbie

Hi Guys.

I didn't realize, na meet ko na pala si mr.Victor (toolec Hardware in Libis) many years ago when he made a demo at our office for Tig machine.

Last month we met again when I bought 2 boxes of weld sticks (the ones JayL was mentioning- at a good price)

He still has the auto darkening lenses at P2,000.00 (which I had tried on -way back a few years ago) and it is solar powered. Fits right into the standard sized helmets, so i can choose my own helmet.

Those who may want to save a little can still opt for it. Althou I can't say for sure on the reaction time for battery powered lenses vs. solar powered, bec I didn't have any at the time for speed comparison..

Comparing specs may help, but nothing compares with actual hands-on...

I just feel that if a guy accidentally cracks his special lens @ special size, then you have no other choice but to find your same orig supplier... just my two cents... don't mean to dampened anyones' enthusiasm.. .

@ Sir JayL... Where'd you get the #9 lenses? medyo bitin din ako konti sa #10...

Thank guys.. 😉

Re: Welding Newbie

Yes bro.

Its just taking out your regular lens and put in the auto darkening lens.

The solar cell/ sensor is like the size of those in small calculators, located at a corner of the whole lens.

John I got the #9 lens from my Powercraft Welding Machine package.

Toolec is a Miller distributor. Do you think the lenses are Miller?

I remember reading somewhere that Miller non auto darkening helmets can be upgraded to auto darkening with lens change.

Re: Welding Newbie

@JayL - Oo nga eh...Can't seemed to find #8 or #9...

Does anyone know a source for #8 or #9 welding lenses?

Anyway -
Toolec also sells the Miller Auto-dark, whole helmet price arnd P21,000.00. The darkened shade is user adjustable from #9 to #13 (nice noh?)

The P2,000 Auto-dark lens is China made- comes with an ordinary (local) mask/helmet.
darkened shade is fix at #10.
Additional plastic sheets can be added for more darkness at P100.00 per one number sheet (hahaha...manual mode pala)...
Sorry, the price is same daw with or with the free accessory.

HTH :rolleyes:

Yes Ossie, that's so true... It will definitely improve productivity.

What I haven't tried is to actually point a Halogen Spot light unto the work, so the bright light would be continuous, I have a couple of these 100W lights at home but I'm still figuring out how to make a protective shield to prevent shattering or splattering from the weld fluxes..

Do you think it could work guys? :confused:

Re: Welding Newbie

weld during daytime and rest when its almost dark 😀 hahaha

how about putting clear glass as protective shield?

@JayLo,
btw, added protection from spatter to welding lenses is usually putting clear acrylic sheet outside the helmet. if you need small acrylic sheet, i can cut out for you.

@ryobi,
if there is no protective glass in your ADH, you can put acrylic, let me know if you need one.

thanks

Re: Welding Newbie

main frame lenght of approx 12 inch.

bender jaw opening of 2 inch.
if you want your bender to accept 4 inch metal to bend (i.e. 4" round tube) make the jaw opening of 4 inch and 0.2 for the allowance hehehe

Dowel/pin thickness 13.2mm

Some Tips:
-drill the hole less than 1 inch from center to center or less than ½ inch gap outside diameter.
-Drill the two metal bar at the same time so that the holes are align to each other and to prevent problem putting dowels hole to hole

Re: Welding Newbie

That BASTARD file helped me a lot on the hole.
The dowel size is 13++mm and I drilled the hole using 13mm bit since my drill accepts only 13mm for metal bit.
I used only hand drill so I expect its not 90 deg hole through, better yet bring it to your friend with Drill Press so you may not encounter the problem.

This is the dowel catcher 😀
