Re: Welding Newbie

here is my result on welding need more practice pa matagal ng di nakapag welding hehehe anyway ung ADH okey sa performance mabilis sya magpalit ng light to darkness and can be adjust the DIN from 9 to 13 pag naka set sa 13 masyadong madilim pero kita mo pa rin ang sprak ng weld pag 9 and setting mas okey din parang parehas sa dati kong ginagamit well depend na rin sa gumagamit hehe

Iba talaga naka ADH gwapo pati porma.

Got chance to start cleaning the metals Ossie brought for me. One thing good about scrap is it gives good opportunity for Newbies to practice. Pag prepare and linis pa lang WIP na.

200 pesos worth of metal.

As always there are a lot of ways to skin a cat. I thought that I'd just use the reciprocating saw to separate all these joined metals.

After a few cuts I noticed that it takes too much time to do it this way. The joints are full welds and the metal thick.

There's got to be a better way. An angle grinder is a choice but speed is a concern so it's better to use the torch.

Re: Welding Newbie

Just needs a bit of setup time to ensure the tool is Ok and that safety precautions are in place. ( Fire Extinguishers , bucket of sand, wet rags , safety gloves , glasses etc.. )

Re: Welding Newbie

The flat bars were thick and one was bent so I need to straighten it out.

Heat is a friend for such task.

When bent part is red hot just clamp in the vise.

Straight enough now when it cooled down a bit.

Re: Welding Newbie

I need to grind / clean these next time. I think the dowels are not hard enough. What metal are these made?

Ossie thanks for swapping your SAE wrenches. I'm able to use it since some of my tools use standard sizing like this Victor Torch kit.

Re: Welding Newbie

@ryobi,
hehe nabitin ka tuloy sa ginagawa mo, ibig sabihin nyan ay magpahinga ka na daw. thanks sa info rgearding the ADH, kumbinsi!!!

@doc V,
unti unti lang at wag pwersahin ang katawan after ng operation, hoping na maging ok ang lahat.

@jay,
wow you already started your bender, we want to see your bender's version hehe you can finish that project quickly since you have a complete tools to do the job, easily...

yes, the round bar is not that hard coz its the only available at the junk shop. we still need to find better metal than what we have 🙂

ang sarap maggawa kapag kumpleto ang gamit 🙂

Re: Welding Newbie

@jay,
oo nga pala, if your design will going to bend for 2' pipe, make the handle assembly jaw opening at about 3", giving an ample allowance for the pipe jig. much better if you design first your proposed 2" pipe jig, then your handle assembly opening jaw will depend on the size of you jig.

sample 1" pipe jig die set:
