Re: Welding Newbie

yes i moved it backward, yung abrasive wheel ay medyo lumiliit na 😀

price of 4 1/2" fat bar is Php25, natsambahan ko lang yan, kailangan ko pa nga din e, as you can see from my previous post, may pinag dugtong lang ako na flat bar 😀

what happened to your 14mm Austrian made drill bit?

I see you moved the fence one step backwards. Hindi ba nahirapan sa me gitna yung blade?

How much per kilo ng 4 1/2" flat bar?

I need to buy some better abrasive blades plus a 14mm drill bit too. Hirap pala pag d complete ng drill bit sizes. Pending lagi work.

Trying to build up skills on tapping holes so I will go find this tap.

Re: Welding Newbie

Sorry 15mm pala need ko. I can use the 14mm and just use a file to make the hole larger but it defeats the purpose of the exercise which is skills building. Proper tools must be used. Buying 15mm drill bit is not a problem but for the M12x1.25 Tap I might have a harder time to find one.

This is the tool I used to measure the thread pitch.

M12 x 1.25 fine thread

Yes I have but I'll get the proper drill bit. There will be a time in automotive work that I will be needing it and better to have one. Anyway the bender is a fun build so not in a hurry to finish it.

Speaking of Bellota Files I have accumulated a few already buying one at a time during tool hunts. Very good reasonably priced files. Made in Mexico. However I still prefer the Honduran Made Craftsman set which cut better.

Re: Welding Newbie

I’m using this welding machine.

As you can see medyo bitin ang wire saan kaya ako makakabili ng wire para ditto at affordable price. TIA...;)

Bro, may ganyan din ako.. I opened the box.. cut the wire from the inside.. Then i used copper tubing to join the new wire to the solid wire from the transformer.. 1 for ground and 1for the electrode.. balak ko din palitan electrode holder at copper ground clamp.

Re: Welding Newbie

mas mahal ang switch kesa sa motor 😀
switch Php7k
motor Php1K
the rest Php400

In any equipment that you would notice, it always applies the law of thermodynamics that exhaust should be prioritized so as to avoid recirculation of hot air which is more dangerous.

Cooling fans suck hot air out. Maybe an auxilliary fan can be installed for the blow in of cool air.

No need JayL, the problem that may arise is when the air flow harmonics between the intake and exhaust would not match. Factors such as rate of air entry and exit and actual air movement inside (which would depend for each equipment based on the part locations) will play a role. Over many factors, once the exhaust failed to be at par with the intake, cooling will never be achieved since hot air is not efficiently blown out.

In a gist, sufficient exhaust is all you need. You may add holes on the top for passive cooling due to thermal phenomenon that hot air rises since cold air is heavier.

Sorry for the ling post. hope this helps.

Regarding about cooling.. I was wondering of adding cooling fins to the transformer.. If it does not over heat, the sensor would not shut down the welder, therefore duty cycle could be maximize..

I'd be trying this in my jialli welder.. Hope it works.. The shutdown makes it safe for the welder against overheating.. but it annoys me b'coz I have to pause on working..

err.

Yeah, your right sir, a cooling fan should be focus on the transformer, and another fan should be focus for the exhaust to avoid recirculation.

thanks for the input...

I reckon the sensors are heat activated so this mod could work.

Re: Welding Newbie

...I was wondering of adding cooling fins to the transformer..

In order for cooling fins to work:
- You should have a flat surface to maximize point of contact with the heat sink
- Contraption for the heat sink to be soundly attached to the transformer at all times ( loose conductor is very dangerous)
- Add thermal paste for maximum heat transfer
- It would be best if you could place an exhaust fan near the transformer as it heats up the most

Thanks Jarod. Please do post more on this cooling subject if you have more to add or other ideas on how to improve the welders' cooling efficiency.

You're welcome Jay. The main working principle here is to place an exhaust nearest or right next to the warmest material. Otherwise a good place would be on top - an exhaust that would serve as a blow hole (easier to suck rising hot air). No intake fans needed, the exhaust force would enable a sufficient passive cold air intake on the side gills and on any opening.

Yeah, your right sir, a cooling fan should be focus on the transformer, and another fan should be focus for the exhaust to avoid recirculation

Pure exhaust would be fine just as mentioned above.
