Re: Welding Newbie

Got chance to get a 15mm drill bit and an M12 x 1.25 Tap set.

So I continued with the bender handle. Tapping holes need tender care. The right hole size for the Tap to be used is imperative. There will be times when this will be a better option than welding pieces together. Good chance to practice in this build.

Needs lot of cutting fluid. Have to turn clockwise to cut , back out counterclockwise a bit then cut again.

If available blow with compressed air from time to time.

Re: Welding Newbie

Drilled and Tapped holes. Fine metric thread. Fits well.

Don't you think I need to move the handle a bit more on the middle inside ( second bar ) for stability? Will need a 22mm hole saw to do that because the handle shaft itself has a bigger diameter. 🙁

Short handle out.

Longer adjustable one in.

Re: Welding Newbie

@jay,
wow! iwewelding na lang ba yan?
if you can adjust your handle going inside for about 3 or 4 inches or up to the other bar, much better for stability...

Kaya nga hindi ko pa ma welding dahil dito. Palagay mo hindi pa siya stable? Bakal naman ito.

I will need 22mm hole saw to do the adjustment. Gastos sa tools. Kikilin ko na lang kaya pero madugo yun. From 15mm to 22mm. 🙁

Re: Welding Newbie

@jay,

for that build, kailangan ba removable yung handle?

kasi mapwepwersa masyado yung dulo ng handle mo 🙂

Re: Welding Newbie

@jay,

Absolutely not 🙂 .... practice practice lang muna trying to build skills. Taking the chance on this instead of doing on scrap.

Hmmm I never tried a hole saw yet on metal.

How can I make a 16mm hole to be tight 22mm on a 1/2" flat bar if I don't have a hole saw?

Another option for me is to try it as it is. If the handle does not work well then I could just do a hole using oxy ace and weld it.

Re: Welding Newbie

@ryobi,
some advise from a newbie like me 😀

clean the metal as much as possible, dirty metal also affects your beads in some ways.

try to weld the metal in flat position,(if you can). i saw your picture that you are welding in a vertical position (is it uphill or downhill?)

try to use 2.5mm for that build @ 90 deg para hindi masyado malaki kakayurin mo sa grinding 🙂 hehehe

grabe, mas matiyaga ka pa pala sa akin hehe

go go go garndmaster Ryobi, gusto ko na makita yung ornamental designs na ilalagay mo
