Re: Welding Newbie

@ossie,

magpapanggap lang muna ako bro..talagang newbie toits..now i do not know if my "daihatsu" arc welder can do welding at all..will post a pic of whole thing.

@Jay,

naku dinala mo ako sa WeldingWeb...madugo pala dun! but great site! dami kong nakita pictures to suit my needs kaya lang mega heavy yung iba...kailangan nga pala thick metal plate sa table..agh!

akala ko pwede na kahoy sa mount ng vise.lol

isip isip muna...baka ihold ko muna vise stand..il get the ordered items from timber today later and continue with the router table..in between il try to sketch the vise stand..parang mas ok yung table instead of a single post build (see nctox post).

and i saw a chop saw stand..ok din..pero mas ok mag cut ng angle bar sa ground i guess rather than lifting the whole 20' (with support on either side)...but like i said i cant squat.

thanks

Re: Welding Newbie

A bench top or floor model belt sander would be an awesome tool to have when fabricating metal parts.

Re: Welding Newbie

It's good idea to load up a file with chalk before filling away metal. Keeps it from clogging up quickly.

I wanted one of this for a long time now. Don't know if available locally.

Did you try to soak it in WD40 already?

I use a wheel wire brush in cleaning my files.. I use a emery chalk on it before cleaning with a wheel wire brush.. Hope it works well for your file..

Re: Welding Newbie

My air hose reel swivel is taking shape already.

I'm really hoping that my welding will improve a bit when I get my ADH.

No bevel single pass 7024 rod @ 160- 170A.

Hehehhe spray painting .... tapos na welding mo kaya dyan ka na LOL Anong electronics yan WIP na yan?

I run out of paint so dry fit muna. At least it would be easier to pull the hose now.

Hahahah sige pina pa graduate mo na ako.

Welding newbies. It's a good idea to install an integrated arc striking tester in your welder. It's better to strike an arc here first before going to the the work piece. I found that it is much easier to strike an arc in the workpiece when the rod is hot already.

Re: Welding Newbie

Guys, I have a problem with my metal gate's lock.I can't find a picture but I'll just describe it.

Here in Pinas most metal gate has a sliding bolt lock with a handle right? Now that bolt slides into several short metal cylinders welded into the gate to guide the bolt's sliding motion.

One of the cylinders is welded and looks it had been hit hard and came down a few millimeters compared to the other cylinders.

Question is, cold I just hammer the thing upwards so it may align with the rest? My worry is that it might detach and I got no welder to place it back.

Thanks!

Re: Welding Newbie

Can you grip it with a vise grip and try to bend align it instead of hammering?

Hmmm...never thought of that. Would that be a fool proof procedure or is there a chance that the thing might get broken and become loose?

Sorry to paranoid to have a broken gate and no welding supply nearby :confused:
