Ha ha ha ha and LOL, you now have an additional choice on what welder to use, aside from using oxy-acet, you can also use your new Mig welder, its gonna be a breeze too if you decide to use the mig welder on the stainless steel tank.

Yes I think I'll Mig it. I do have stainless wire with me available. Just a bit of hassle because I need to swap wires for just a 2 inch weld.

Re: Welding Newbie

Sir JayL, I think simply use the OXY-ACE nalang, no hassle in preparation of the MIG welder pa, no need in changing the mig wire already installed.

With the oxi-ace, simply light up the torch and use a stainless filler rod, pass it on the hairline cracks,lo and behold done deal na agad.

Re: Welding Newbie

The DC Inverter Stick Welder will allow you to use it wherever there is a regular wall outlet and even use light gauge extensions.

Just something to consider if you plan to use it for maintenance work.

Considering one too for our building maintenance. Lugging heavy cables and availability of power sources is a major concern why this is on my future list.

yes it will be for maintenance work mostly, but will also help me build my stands and wheels. Will the DC work well with thin sheet material?

I always thought that stick welding is not geared for thin metal sheets. However for welding thin sheets to thicker metals then I had success using even an AC welder.

DC Inverter Stick power sources usually have the option for TIG. It would be a good idea to have this or as a future option if you have need for welding thinner sheet metals at a level with respect to your woodworking caliber.

Rosy and Ossie had done more welding on thin metals using stick. I hope they could chime in.

Re: Welding Newbie

laid-out the cut lines...

cut to size...

now most of the materials cut and cleaned, when I find time, these gets welded...

but I think I must practice welding first..... :tv_horror:

Re: Welding Newbie

go go go master timb! hehehe

pls observe safety when using your metal burning power tools, theres a lot of wood pieces there that might cause fire.

yan na pag practican mo para actual na papagandahin mo yung pag weld, kaya ng DC welder mo yan 🙂 use DCEP settings kung supported ng welder mo ito... goodluck!

Re: Welding Newbie

Don't rush it timbs, do a lot of practice sa scrap metals muna so you will get to see how the beads will appear using the right welding rod , the right amperage, plus the speed of travel of the rod on the metal.

Practice, practice and practice first so not to waste your metal tubings. GOOD LUCK and stay safe sa shop mo.
