Re: Welding Newbie

Mga sir tanung po any ideas how to weld yung fork ng forklift? Nagkalamat yung fork dun sa siko, yung naka- 90degree part ng fork, finull weld ko using 6013 but after a week naputol na ng tuluyan.
Full weld ko ulit sya at medyo nilakihan ko yung gap by grinding para luminis and para mas malaki yung contact area. Then ginalapaan ko pa ng plate sa ilalim and ibabaw para mas matibay. Pero naputol pa rin. Is there any other remedy or welding technique na dapat kung gawin?

Medyo mahal kasi yung surplus na fork kaya baka maremedyuhan pa.

Thanks

Re: Welding Newbie

try to use 7018 electrodes. dapat full penetration., kailangan naka bevel yong hinihinang mo. also suport it with L bracket stiffener plate both sides.

Re: Welding Newbie

@fortnapz,

Will try using the 7018 electrodes hanap sa suking tindahan 🙂 I have read in some forum na kailangan ko Ireheat yung bakal and welding. Ano po ang explanation dito and nakikita ko ibang welder pagkatapos iwelding nilulubog sa tubig at yung iba naman sa used oil.

Thanks

Re: Welding Newbie

HI there bro joaquim,

Bro using a 6013 welding rod will not properly weld that thick metal/steel, it is not used for deep penetration. As suggested by bro fortnapz using a 7018 welding rod will be just fine IF , with capital letters bro, if your welder is a DC one, if its only an AC, it will be useless. 😮

I have another suggestion bro, do grind the two connecting parts by beveling one end or both, then join them together leaving a gap of 1/8 of an inch or even 1/16, then tack weld mo muna. Underneath the gap, also " sapian or galapaan mo muli " with thick plate so that your fork to be welded will be aligned with the main body or the bucket. Now use a 6011 welding rod for your initial root pass weaving the tip of your rod left to right or do a circular motion, you have to completely burn the two edges of the metal you are trying to connect, then after which you follow it up with several hot passes using a 7018 welding rod and then cap it with a 6013 welding rods. I just don't know if you can use the 7018 rod if your welder is only an AC. :confused:

Don't forget too to full weld the metal support plate on the other side.

Good Luck bro, hope this helps !!!!! :starwars:

---------------------------

Don't drench your hot welds with water, lulutong lang ang metal at kakalawangin pa, better with oil pa to hardened the welded steel/metal

Re: Welding Newbie

@rosy
thank you very much for the advice will follow your suggestion. Just bought a DC welding machine will arrive next week will wait for it. bought an asea 200d sa octopower tools.

Sir bakit kailangan dc welding machine sa 7018? first time to be using this kinds of welding rods, familiar lang ako sa 6013(ordinary), eutectic and stainless rods. Dami ko natutunan dito pati welding napabili tuloy ng wala sa oras 🙂
