Re: Welding Newbie

Hi newbie here.

Im trying to find someone who could fabricate and weld the horn ring of my steering wheel. Naka chrome kasi yun tapos naputol. I also need a round bar na pundido din kasi nawala na rin yun ring. Can you recommend a shop located in mandaluyong kung saan pwde po mag pagawa.

thanks

attached is a sample picture of the horn ring ng steering wheel.

Re: Welding Newbie

hi,
i have a plan to buy portable ac or dc welding machine, my only question is, do i need of power transformer from local electric coop since most of the welding shop near town has,
most of my friend discouraged me coz welding hobby is expensive and can create electrical disturbance on neighbor if without owned power transformer...my proposed project are dog house, window grill, motorcycle body modification....

What do you mean by transformer? A whole new building may need a transformer but I doubt a welding machine will have such large electrical load. My small 160amp Yamato is just plugged to a normal household outlet.

Some here add a separate circuit breaker just to be sure. But I have not heard a transformer requirement for a welding machine especially those used for small projects like you plan to do.

Re: Welding Newbie

The stated inquiry has been posted by the same member at the sub-forum SMAW (Stick Welding)
and have been promptly answered. I just hope bro romelabrador reads this and the other reply
in the mentioned sub-forum.

Lots of members here have the YAMATO 200 AMP DC Inverter machine and have not required the use of any transformer.

Re: Welding Newbie

Re: Welding Newbie

This is how my folding metal table work stands now.

Purchased different rod types and sizes. Made some rod storage using pvc pipes too to at least keep some moisture out.

3/32" and 1/8" rods. High penetration ( 6011 ) , high tensile strength ( 7018 ), filler drag rods ( 7024 ) and the widely used ones ( 6013 )

Well having your ADH and welding machine on hand, hope you already have your other protective clothing,
then better start practicing and burn those rods on your practice plates. Get yourself familiar or accustomed
to applying those weld beads and learning the proper travel speed and angle of rods. Its only thru practice and
more practice that you will learn and understand how to weld. OK stay safe !

Also lots of videos you can watch and follow in YouTube regarding stick welding. :2thumbsup::agree:

Good Luck and enjoy the experience !! :barmy:
