Rounding the plate edges .... wala akong compass so takip na lang ng coke pang draw ng marker

At least it's better now .... don't know when accidents can happen so best be safe than sorry

I debated over a cup of coffee whether to install these braces now or after the top plate welding. Clearance issues when welding under the top plate and in upright position. In the end I opted for more frame stability .... first

The proximity of an angle grinder and the ease to store it back after use will take out one step when doing WIPs ... trying to find where the grinder is ... LOL

Installing the 3rd and last leg support ..... 2" x 1/4" thick flat bar. I temporarily clamped it to a square tube so it would be straight ....

I don't full weld most of the joints now. I use just a bit more than necessary to hold things up tight.

I preferred to weld with lower heat setting and small runs ... if the legs warp then it would create problems

I added a hook to hang the grinding face mask

Indispensable tool when doing fit ups ... a hammer .... I prefer a dead blow one

The table is very sturdy now ... the addition of the horizontal leg support bars have added to stability

I'll work on the welding positioner mounting next ... probably this wip would be ready for frame painting after this install ...

Hey bro Jay, looking and reviewing the pics posted I did not find or get to see if you have bolted or welded the table top panel to the 2" X 2" frame receiver. Has the table top panel been permanently installed ? :confused:

Please show pics naman whether installed or not. :p 🙂

The table top is not installed yet. I'm still searching where I can have it pressed and or blanchard ground for flatness. None the less if this service is not available yet here then I will just weld it. It would be reasonably flat but not to the specs I really wanted.

The design of the table is somewhat dual personality. One side is geared more for Tig welding ( sitting down ) while the other side more on Mig welding fab type work ( standing up ).

I decided to install the welding positioner on the side where the foot well is located ... Tig side.

Dry Fit

Positioner is removable ... will probably build a storage for it under the table when its not in use. There might be some slight table clamping obstructions but that I have to live with in exchange for the ability to rotate small wips easily while Tig welding.

I'm not in the mood to do overhead welding tonight so I'll pull this job tomorrow during daytime .... LOL

OH with regards to the table top distortion, the minute bow in the middle, wouldn't it be possible that you weld fix the middle area to the middle brace receiver and then clamp both end sides to the end frames until the underside of the end sides would touch the 2" x 2" frames flat and square and then possibly weld them down na ? ( FULL WELD ) Can the flatness you seek for the table top be attained possibly with this approach ? :massbounce:

Yes the flatness using the technique you outlined above will be good enough for most fab works in mild steel and probably stainless steel. I'm not sure if it will be good enough for aluminum work where more precision is actually expected from the operator since the metal is costly. I could be wrong on this but it's the way I see it.

I have not done a through search yet of a place where I can at least have the top pressed but I will look into it and ask around.
