I have some scrap 1/8" checkered plates. Will make use of it to make a box.

Started cutting .....

this box is for holding used angle grinder consummables

I'll weld some hooks so I can hang it in the welding table ... it will be transferable and removable

Your welding table is done in a very fine and professional approach, Yung mga gamit nyo po sa shop eh is of no question, puro high grade. If Sir Tim does the same approach in his woodworks eh kayo rin po sir and counterpart in metalworks.

Here in PHM, ang daming rin mga magagaling, iba iba po ang skill level and their approaches in accomplishing their projects, nakakabelieve. D 2 lang ako background mga braders appreciating and learning in the process sa different work skills and accomplishments.

Sir Jayl, i hope you have not forgotten, minsan naging suki mo ako sa IRWIN 4" Bench Vise, here in cagayan valley . Tnx the unit is vey much in tiptop shape.

Thank you very much for the kind words.

I try my best to equip and make the shop as efficient as it can be (as budget permits). Once done my thought is that projects will be easier to do and at a lower cost.

I'm glad you got one of those 4" vise. I have shipped a lot of those to provincial buyers. I believe it's not available anymore except for the last few pieces I still have.

I have this 14 gauge sheet metal. My previous welding table top. I want two lower drawers for my new welding table and I could use this plate.

Sheet metal works is a different ball game. It needs a shear to cut the sheet and a press brake to bend.

I don't have the above so will make do with what I have on hand. Cutting plates using a CS is costly since the diablo blade is expensive.

I can cut the edges and hammer bend these to form a box. I can also slice up the plates and weld. Still undecided what to do. A press brake would have made things very easy. Will probably put this on the wish list. A lot of DIY plans available on the net.

Here I tested bending on two scrap sheets. Allowances have to be made for the bends.

If I slice and weld then I can have square edge joints. Probably more expensive to do but I need only 2 drawers. Shallow 2" high drawers.

I'm afraid the edges won't meet if I hammer bend as in the above ( of course I need to cut the edges first ).

Hindi .... meron plastic hammer ( Peddinghaus ...pang sheet metal talaga yan ) ... tignan mo uli yung pics. Pero slice ko na lang Timb then weld. Wala na kasi akong sheet pag na palpak ito. Test ko muna sa scrap next time yun bending.

This hammer is specifically designed for sheet metal use. It came with a Peddinghaus auto body works kit.

It will shape and bend sheet without basically over expanding the metal itself unlike a metal hammer will do.

It's the first time I tried it and it works better than the ball pein hammer in the pic when I did test bends on scrap.

AS per Master Moji's recommendation and Master Timber's advise not to hammer bend on the table top I sliced the sheets to build 2 identical sized drawers ....

Battery reload .... I wish I can purchase the tracks for these Metabo Circular saw .... not available in the US market. This CS is one serious tool. However the Diablo Steel Demon blade is more serious .... LOL.

As square as can be achieved for tight fit ups .... lessens warping.

I just need to cut the front and back stocks and these will be ready for welding ...

Drawer handle choice ... Bygel 128 Chrome

Will worry about mounting later ... the slides I have are long. Either source out new slides or think of another way to install these drawers to the table bottom.
