Re: A Poll survey for YAMATO DC Inverter Welder

Hi, Joseph is currently on overseas travel, spoke with a lady named "Rens" they have stock and will bring it to the Araneta Ave location, I will pick it up this Wednesday - I chose the model with the carrying case as I would be shuttling it between Batangas and Manila. Thanks for the help.

Re: A Poll survey for YAMATO DC Inverter Welder

Hi,

I also want to buy the yamato dc inverter. I have not even held a welding machine but i want to learn to use it. Can anyone in the forum explain what the dc inverter can do? Thanks so much.

Pahabol: I am trying to get in touch with JosephS but unfortunately, JosephS appears not to accept PMs. I would like to know how much is the inverter and whether he could arrange for shipping here in the province.

Just back read the thread and you get basic understanding of welding. Google is also your friend.

Yes, Rens is the front desk person, she's the one taking calls in the office for new purchases or in case for some repairs or replacements of units.
May I suggest you replace the existing rod holder to a better one, the existing one sucks and it does not hold rods firmly, that is what most of us here did.
Just follow the duty cycle and if ever the red warning light lits up, turn off the machine and let it rest for a minute or two and its ready to go again.

GOOD LUCK with your new toy bro !! 😉

Hi rosy,
Where could I get a new rod holder? You think I could get a good one in Home Depot or wilcon or ace hardware?

Yes ecobangb,

I know IndustrialSupply 143 also sells the Jackson brand of rod holder but if they are out of it, you can find this brand at any hardware stores selling welding machines, welding rods and the likes.

Re: A Poll survey for YAMATO DC Inverter Welder

Hi Rosy,

I got the Yamato with carrying case in time for my Saturday (May 10) trip to the farm. Opened the package and my guys fired it up - worked like a charm. Rens did not have that Jackson rod holder in stock. You did say that the holder that comes with the welder sucks, I said t myself how bad could it be. A few days after my guy in the farm was sending me a message about the rod holder "lighting up..." we got a new one.

Maybe out of topic but allow me this quick question - are welding rod holders consumable - I mean should I keep at least one spare?

Kinda curious on the message sent, what does he mean by the rod holder "lighting up" ?

Nope, welding rod holders are not consumable/s, it more of a tool specially when you got a good one and that also depends on the one always using it. Also when welding, do not consume totally all the entire rod up to the end tip as not to melt or burn the hard plastic insulator of the rod holder.

You may or may not stash a holder as a spare, like I said that depends on the user of the machine "kung ma ingat o hindi sa pag gamit ng" welding rod holder and the machine itself.

Have fun welding in your farm bro !! ;):D

Re: A Poll survey for YAMATO DC Inverter Welder

Posted via PHM MobileGood day. Will be getting this unit sometime end of this month. Will be brought to Davao City where I will start welding (more like DIY learning). Some questions with regard the recommended seller, Industrialsupply143:

1. Do they still give discounts to PHM members?
2. For those members from the provinces who bought units from them and experienced problems, how efficient was the warranty?

By the way, been a forum member for some time now. Don't have projects as of yet, but will be posting some soon (pagnaumpisahan ko na aralin). Will be doing mostly home and auto projects.

Kudos to all forumers.

rosy would know 🙂
I haven't a clue, as I bought mine two years ago, back when
the vendor was on D. Tuazon, and Mimi was handling sales.

2. For those members from the provinces who bought units from them and experienced problems, how efficient was the warranty?

First time I hadit fixed, it was already past warranty, but Mimi
referred me to Rhen, and it was fixed for free (power cord was
severed at the terminals ---the doofus who borrowed it had
nearly dropped it 2 stories, but the cord stopped its fall) and it
took less than 24 hours. Worked great, until I lent it out again.
The second time it needed repairs (fried PCB, oeprator did not
monitor the overcharge light), I paid for labor/mat'ls and IIRC
it took a few days to fix. It's been great since.

I'm not lending it out again, lol.

Re: A Poll survey for YAMATO DC Inverter Welder

As far as I know they still give discounts to PHM members.

If you're going to use this machine for DIY repairs, then I would recommend it.

If you're going to use it for production, then you have to make sure that the user abides by the recommended duty cycle. If not, thermal stress will eventually burn the IGBT chips (and several other components on the PCB). I already had 2 machines repaired by them (both out of warranty). They charged me P1,500 for the PCB replacement.

This is the weak point of the Yamato DC welder. I saw burnt PCBs in their repair shop, piled 2 feet high!

The cost of the brand new Yamato DC welder, plus P1,500 PCB replacement is just below the price of a competing DC welder (I believe the brand name is "Winner"). I have seen the innards of this competitor. It has at 2x (or is it 3x?) more IGBT chips than the Yamato. The more chips, the less electric current will be going throuch each of the chips, the less heat generated.

HTH!

Re: A Poll survey for YAMATO DC Inverter Welder

Thanks for the replies sirs. Anyway, guess I will have to check for discounts na lang when I make the purchase. The unit will be used primarily for DIY learning (which will hopefully be successful enough to turn out small home and auto projects). From what I've been reading, this Yamato unit is still the most recommended IGBT welder nowadays (not sure if I missed any other recommended alternative within the same price range). One thing for sure, hindi ko ipapagamit sa iba, hehe.

Again, thanks.

For the 1ST question : YES, they always give discounts to PHM members. Just tell JosephS or Rhen you are a member of this forum.

For the 2ND question : Industrialsupply143 gives a 6 months warranty on this welder, free service and material replacement free or even replacement of the unit. Some members have enjoyed this warranty and are satisfied with it. But to those members from the provinces who got this unit, I have no idea or have not heard yet a complaint. I suppose you just have to clarify this matters with JosephS if there will be some arrangements to be made.

The 200 amp DC Inverter is a fine entry level machine as long as you follow instructions and follow its range of duty cycle PLUS will only be used by you then. You may also consider their new 300 amp DC Inverter which I think is more on the heavy duty side. If you are sure of getting a unit, be sure to test it first by burning several welding rods at different ampere settings.

GOOD LUCK on your choice bro !! 😉

Re: A Poll survey for YAMATO DC Inverter Welder

Good day again sirs. Anybody had any luck getting through to sir Joseph recently? No replies both calls and texts. Also tried calling the numbers posted on the previous page of the thread (their address in Kapiligan st). Looked for ms rens. Was told she doesn't handle sales and that I should talk to sir Joseph only. Hmm, getting confused. Any other proven seller that can be recommended for the Yamato?
