Re: Belt Sanders
The bulky orange belt sander looks great but its to big for a personal use, that will fit perfectly if you have an industrial or a machine shop. I prefer the more smaller disc grinder and belt sander combo, good for personal DIY jobs.
Recently I was about to purchase two units of this disc and belt sander combo from an online sulit seller ,brand is RYOBI but never get to push through with the purchase coz its hard to get in touch with the seller. :boom1:
The Ryobi brand turnd out to be well quite ok, did some research on the product and for me its quite ok since it will be an on and off use anyway but then like what I've said the purchase never materialized, just have to find another source. Maybe I'll visit Panda or Toolsfromus one of
these days, oh maybe My Tools, its more closer to our place and find out what they can offer. 😉

LYS have some too. Shin or Chin brand or something that sounds like that.
I'm particularly looking for a belt sander with a rubber coated wheel instead of metal. The Multitool fits this need.
I'll check later if this multitool will fit the locally available Taiwan made Champion 3/4HP 8" bench grinder.

Hi JayL, i bought mine 2 years ago from HINOKI Trading otherwise known as New Era Machinery. It looks close to the TORQ brand featured here w/ a 1/2 Hp motor. It was around 16k when i got it. Maybe they still have stocks but i've been havin' a hard time contacting them so you may have to pay them a visit in their office in valenzuela. Here's a link of their contact info and address.. http://www.alibaba.com/member/ph104571273/contactinfo.html :goodluck:
Re: Belt Sanders
Thanks Willy.
Does yours have a rubber coated wheel? The Torq in the pic have I think steel or aluminum.

It's made of aluminum. You may opt to have it coated w/ rubber in the future. A lot of machine shops process/coat rubber in some rollers for conveyors. I'm sure a shop or two would accept even a single job order like this. You may also opt to have industrial plastic machine turned and infused w/ a rubber sole. just like what they use for drum sanders. They use a yellow or high temp contact glue used for conveyor wheels. PACMAC in makati sells these adhesives in gallons and in different strength grades. I used thin rubber sole sheets for mine. We have a lot of sole materials here in Marikina.
Re: Belt Sanders
Got this Grizzly belt/disc sander recently. It is better suited to wood and plastics. I dont think metal can be worked on in this machine. Maybe aluminum and other soft metals, but mild steel and the like is out of the question.

Re: Belt Sanders
what glue do you use, is gorilla glue available locally? i had some sanding belts purchased sometime ago and the belts would break at the joint....
been doing some tests lately using different glues and epoxies for glueing abrasive cloth, so far no luck yet, all my belt sanders are for metal, once the belt heats up the joint would start to peel off, only cyanoacrylate seems to hold but would break up as soon as the glue starts cracking, need something more flexible......
the other glues i've tried are rubber cement (various brands). 5 min epoxies, marine epoxy, plastic steel, gorilla epoxy, haven't found gorilla glue yet, spray adhesives, wood glues, haven't tried evostk yet, still looking for polyurethane adhesive..... any more suggestions? i have an original belt which came with the sander and it used a special belt sanding tape, i doubt if i could find one here, might have to order one......
