Good day phm.

isali na rin natin yung mga "little brothers" by ranking them. baka machicken out ako (hehe).:p...

maraming salamat

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

Hello Mike,

I have the Bosch GCO 2000 Professional. If I recall correctly I purchased it a bit less than 7K when it first hit the market. I believe the price had increased now. It's a good chop saw and I'm happy with it. I bought it from Best Achievers in Binondo.

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

Bro, who says you are a late bloomer in metalworking, we who were ahead of you were not born with metal tools or welding machines in our hands. LOL Most of us if not all have our different interest in life, it just so happened that we got interested in metalworking and perhaps welding out of necessity. Its just that its such a great advantage knowing and learning the skills in metalworking and welding specially for homeowners and DIYers. It can also be transformed into a business venture, we can do metal art, sculptures or have a welding shop and fabrication, car restorations and many more. There are endless possibilities in metal working and fabrication, you just have to dig deeper to find out. And that is the same with carpentry and woodworking, or learning how to produce and create decorative concrete products and etc etc.

Anyway miked, talking about chopsaws, durability, long lasting, heavy duty with after sales service, well andyan yun Makita, Bosch, DeWALT, these brands are known to be durable and heavy duty. Now if you talk of after sales service, you can have Bosch chopsaw, just get in touch with Bosch man sir GOLDEN and he'll be glad to assist you. With the other two brands, that will depend on where you will be buying them if they will be your choice. Have you tried getting some information or tips from KIMGOLD, specially from bro Heric, I think they also give after sales service. :cool01:

Another one is EY IndustrialSupply Inc., our supplier of the YAMATO weld machine, they also offer after sales services to any powertools coming from them like the VESPA Chop saw, VESPA Air Compressors, the CHAMPION brand bench grinder, electric generators and others. Perhaps they can also give us PHM members a discount or a fair price for our purchase. I know they stand behind their VESPA products. Try calling up Miss Mimi or Joseph S. and get some feedbacks on their VESPA Chop Saw. That's lesser pa than your 7K budget.:thumbup:

GOOD LUCK bro mike !!!!!!!!

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

in fairness to vespa as well as EY, mura nga yung cut-off machine. ang problema kung sakaling masira or some defects (wag naman sana) eh malayo na sa hometown ko.

ano pa ba ang mga dapat icheck sa machine? clamping system, vibration, etc....totally noob dito. nabasa ko na rin yung thread ni sir jay regarding sa bosch chopsaw. i will read it again. nakakalimutan ko lang kung saang exactly location ng thread.

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

Miked,

I bought my DeWALT chop saw in 2006 and its still going strong, changed abrasive wheels four times already, used it to cut 4" GI pipes and BI pipes, 2" GI pipes and 3" angle bars several times and some square and corrugated solid bars and performance is still the same as before, heavy duty and durable indeed.

Now I am saving up for another DeWALT chop saw, the one with the carbide tip blade.
DeWALT DW872 14" Multi- Cutter Saw. :clap1:

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

sir rosy, ano pinagkaiba sa dewalt D28715?

makita seems to be out of my reach. nga pala, what are the different types of blades na nagagamit for chopsaw. forgive my laziness to recheck a thread regarding sir jay's makita chopsaw, may nabanggit kasi something like dry cut saw? ano ba mga iyon. yung abrasive blade lang ang alam ko sa ngayon.

salamat sa info

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

@ miked,

The DeWALT DW 28700 to 715 series, this are the models that carry the 14" abrasive cutting wheel. But the 715 has a keyless blade change system, a quick change system compared to my old model. Plus ang handle ng 28715 ay iba na, horizontal configuration, easier to pull down and cut metals.

The DeWALT DW 872, is the model that carry the 14" carbide tip blades, also known as the dry cut saw. This dry cut saw cuts faster than the abrasive chop saw, also, does not produce sparks and metal dust while cutting. It produces clean cuts with no burrs and its cool to the touch unlike the other one.

Hope this helps bro !!! 😉

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

Cut off po ba ang ibig niyong sabihin sa chop saw? If yes mas ok kung yung belt driven with ac motor yung bilin niyo mas heavy duty yung motor niya, nasa 7-10k ang presyo nun.

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

I own both the BOSCH GCO 2400 J and the MAKITA LC1230. Just a few reasons why I chose both models. Bosch had the most powerful motor and excellent after sales service warranty. Makita had the best performing (clean cuts) dry cut saw when i bought it last 2011. Keep in mind that these tools are used heavily. We cut metal, aluminum and stainless tubes on a daily basis. We process around 6-10, 20-footer containers of office furniture, frames and components per year. However I am emphasizing the word TUBULAR components as my primary usage. It'll be a different story for steel shaftings and metal rods. A power hacksaw is more useful for this purpose unless you want to splurge on abrasive disks. For DIYERS you can't go wrong with the Cut-off saw initially then if you are able to grow it into a business then spend for the big guns if you can. My two centavos!

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

recently purchased the bosch gco 2 pro for around that price but the problem is the base/table is not flat. i checked other display models in malls and its the same. if you can add 1k to your budget, you can get the boach gco 2000 pro. much better build quality and the base is flat. the base is critical for accuracy. I think bugel is using a mactek and the cuts are good. check his thread and mine so you can get and idea of the cut quality.

*chopsaws create a lot of bur after the cut so expect to clean whatever you're cutting.

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

The " base/table is not flat" problem is making me curious here, is the base a bit twisted, the top surface con cave or convex or what ? Can you please post a picture or two of that chop saw base so that others may also be informed and educated. 😉

Not that I am going to buy a Bosch chop saw, nothing against this brand , I have posted already my preference in earlier replies. ( post # 5 )

THANKS ! 🙂
