Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

I have a Metabo (CS 23-355). May not fit in a P7K budget but cost less than a Bosch GCO 2400 J (P8.5K in early 2012 with two free Metabo discs vs. P9-10K) while having similar specs (rated 2,300 W vs. 2,400 W). I also kind of like the horizontal handle design and hand position compared to the Bosch. No flatness issue that I can tell.

Yes miked, AEG is a good brand too, IF, the real originals that are made in Germany, have you seen some somewhere. Its a German made quality tools before but sold I think to a Chinese business corporation that is why the AEGs now being sold are usually made in China and sometimes being re badge as RIGID when sold in the US. But I guess the present manufacturer are still following the AEG German standards. Only now they can be lined with DIY qualities like the B&D, SKIL, MAKTEC and other brands that are for DIY use only.

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

two more questions fellow handymen:

1. rated din ba ang mga chopsaw to cut solid shafting especially stainless steel? yung mga drawings kasi sa mga user's manual on most chopsaw na nakita via the internet e halos hollow shafting.

2. is it also advisable to cut slotted angular bars using abrasive blade?

hoping to buy this weekend pero baka light duty version na ang bagsak ko due to other projects lined-up, other necessity tools to purchase plus a much needed visit sa dentista para ipamasilya ngipin ko. napapabayaan ko na daw ang sarili ko (ayon kay swmbo). hehe

salamat sa inyong mga replies.

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

IN my Post #13 of your thread I mentioned this..."I am emphasizing the word TUBULAR components as my primary usage. It'll be a different story for steel shaftings and metal rods. A power hacksaw is more useful for this purpose unless you want to splurge on abrasive disks." If you cut thick metals more than 8mm you may be overworking both the abrasive disk and the machine. If you can just add a little more to your budget then go for the medium to heavy grade tool.

Re: Chop saw inquiry before i buy

thanks sir willyfernando. actually, hindi ko rin sya gagamitin on a regular basis to cut solid shafts. most probably, gi at bi hollow pipes sya magagamit aside from the angulars and flat bars. occasional use na lang siguro if ever the need arises. just asked the question baka sakaling mapipilitan ako na gamitin for that purpose in a hurry.
