Well my roof project has come to a halt, seams it will be some time before we can get power to the house, so i am back to the USA in a few weeks to finish a building my son in law bought a year ago, i have been looking at dc inverter stick welders, i think i am going to look at the Lincoln Invertec V155 stick, it comes in under 6.8 kg auto reconnect 120/230 operate from a generator if need, can run on a 61m extension cord 230 has 3 yr warranty, i think i can carry this back and forth on the plane, and for about the $700 usd not bad, you can get it with Tig torch also, i see a lot of the made in China machines and some maybe ok but from what i can tell their are issues with the quality and repair is very expensive or none at all

Re: dc inverter stick welder

Lincoln is a good brand. So is Miller. I doubt one can go wrong with products offered by both US manufacturers.

Here's a comparable product from Miller.

If I am not mistaken this model can be serviced by the Local Miller distributor as well since they do carry it.
