Good morning! To those who bought their Yamato DC inverter machines 2-4 years ago, are your units still A-OK?
My unit is still doing great and going strong, just finished some projects welding pipes, angle bars and others. Haven't encountered any issues with it so far.
Hope your unit is still doing fine !

That's good to hear! I will still get my first welding machine this week. I've been wanting to get one for many years already but with the limited welding jobs I have around the house, I cannot justify buying one. But this time, I think I have to scratch the itch already. Hehe
I am just waiting for Mimi's shop to open this Tuesday.
oooopppps, sorry for the mistake, I thought you have already a unit. Anyway bro, may I suggest considering the HiTronic arc inverter machines, the 200 amp or the 250 amp welders. This brand has a proven 60% duty cycle that can take any size of welding rods and can weld for hours before the warning light lits up. It may be a bit more pricey than the Yamato but for sure will last longer, more heavy duty and with one year warranty. You may check GOLDPEAK Tools&Hardware, they are having a discounts for their arc machines and simply talk with coolmaxheric, he owns the store, also a good member of this forum.
Now the manufacturer of the newer batch of Yamato DC arc welders now in the market has lowered their duty cycle to 25% only which means you can only weld in a shorter period of time and the warning device would light up for you to rest the machine before it over heats. I find this not a good point for a stick welder.
Yes I have this brand of welder but then it was yet under the 60% duty cycle and still performing well for me this past four years.
Hope you don't mind me and pointing you to a better brand. But if you prefer the Yamato DC welder, then I cannot stop you from getting one, that's your choice, I am just suggesting another option so you may not get disappointed in the long run.
Cheers and good luck on your choice ! 😉 :goodluck:

Rosy, thanks for the recommendation! I am very open to recommendations especially if they are backed by some facts and experience.

Actually, price is the major factor why I chose the Yamato DC inverter. If I can get a Hitronic 200A at a price near the Yamato's, then I will seriously consider it. Time to get in touch with coolmaxheric! Thanks!
(hope I'm not OT) 😉
bro praktikal,
The Yamato 200 amp DC machine is an ideal entry level welder, yes its easy to use and saves on electric consumption, I will still recommend it if its the 60% duty cycle, sorry for the Yamato now but it has its limitations specially now that its duty cycle has been reduced to only 25%. I personally think it will have a hard time keeping up with prolong period of welding even though you are an occasional user, that is why I am pointing other members interested in buying a DC arc machine other options.
If you are really interested on the HiTronic, then stick with it and forget the Kenzo ZX7, have googled the Kenzo and found some no good results with regards to its quality. Better to stick to a more heavy duty quality machine first, then save up next for your ADH and other welding accessories.
Simply expressing my personal views here for your own benefit.
Good luck on your choice ! 🙂

^ yun na nga e, baka on paper lang ang ganda ng kenzo and other entry level welders. Rilon nga sana kaso mas mahal na kaya buti may Hitronic na mas mura with good quality. Stick lang ako being praktikal.
Thanks sir.
Looking at the website of Goldpeak Tools, the Hi-Tronic ARC series 200A DC inverter is 8,000 pesos while the 160A is 6,800 pesos. The Yamato 200A DC inverter is still at 5,700 pesos. I am glad that we have many choices but I am now more confused as we have many choices. hehe
I am not sure if I am willing to spend more than 6,000 pesos on a something that I will be using rarely. Maybe I will get to use it for one hour every month. I understand the merits of higher duty cycles but I cannot undermine the value of Pe$o$. hehehe
Then comes the powerhouse 200A into the picture. It is priced at 4,500 pesos. But no reviews and no feedback so it is a difficult (and possibly risky) decision to make.
BUT if I become addicted to welding, I would look back and regret buying a low duty cycle machine. hehehe Mahirap pumili!
Oops sorry, my post is already off-topic as I am already talking about other machine brands (and this is a Yamato review).
So far, I am still leaning towards the Yamato 200A DC inverter because of its low cost, the generally good feedback on product quality, and the good after-sales support from our trusted sellers.
^ Meron pa akong nakitang identical sa Kenzo but Yakima ang tatak. That makes me think...
I finally got a Yamato 200A DC inverter welding machine! Did some practice welds when I got home (with proper protective gear of course). I am super happy!! I went through 5 rods in 50 minutes so I guess I am well within its low duty cycle.
As I don't have scrap flat bars, I practiced on a GI pipe. Low amperage, high amperage, dcen, dcep. Hehe it was easy to puncture holes on a GI pipe with too much current. I need more practice sessions before I start working on real projects. Maybe I can make a better slag chipping hammer in my next practice session. The one that came with the Yamato is a joke. Hehehe and the brush at the back of the chipping hammer reminds me of a cheap toothbrush that I had before - it lost half of its bristles on my second use. Hehe
Congrats and enjoy your new welder ! :trampoline::whistle:

Thanks rosy I am planning to buy Dc arc inverter and you suggest timely about it. Ok i will now choose HiTronic instead of any brand. I have an old Ac arc welder 300 amp kinda very heavy as compared today's welding machine. cheers
good review sir, binasa ko simula page 1 hanggang huli.
bibili ako this coming saturday sa Goldpeak, sino po ba hanapin ko dun para maka discount?:thanks:
Good afternoon. Newbie welder here. I have yet to purchase my first welding machine and have decided to purchase a Yamato unit from Gold Peak. Question is...do I really need a unit that has 200amps for basic steel welding? I plan to use it on motorcycle projects like attaching various screw mounts on a bike frame, attaching round steel tubes, spot welding on corners, etc. Will a 160amp unit be enough for such welding jobs? Thank you in advance. Great review by the way, made me decide on purchasing a Yamato brand. 🙂
