Re: FEEDBACK and REVIEW for YAMATO 200 DC Inverter arc welder

@ irobuang,

Well in that case brad, congratulations that you went for this DC Inverter weld machine, you wont regret buying one specially coming from our good and reliable supplier plus the mere fact that the price is very reasonable compared to other DC weld machines in the market. 😉

As for the cost of the freight charges, very ok na yun compared to if you will still be coming over to Manila to purchase the unit, lalabas mas malaki pa gagastosin mo, abala pa sa productive man hours mo. Anyway bro have you had experiences already in using a welding machine or will this be your first time to use one ?, just curious lang, hope you don't mind me asking. :p

Any way brad, CONGRATS muli and stay safe always when welding !!!!! :fetch1:

Re: FEEDBACK and REVIEW for YAMATO 200 DC Inverter arc welder

this is my first time to try welding sir

i've done some researches and reading through the net, on how to weld, proper precautions for safety and some guidelines, pero

experience is the best teacher daw, that's why i want to try

i've tried already to do woodworks, engines and electrical wirings already, medyo diy talaga ako, kaya napabili ako, and plano ko talaga gamitin, kasi may small backyard project ako na piggery, i hope to get it done ng tama, kasi first time ko po kasi,hehe..

thanks so much sir

Re: FEEDBACK and REVIEW for YAMATO 200 DC Inverter arc welder

HI there bro irobuang,

A bit OT here :

It would perhaps be nice if you could give us some info/intro of yourself, a bit of backgrounder on what you do for a hobby, what DIY projects you usually do, the kind of work you do and in what part of Mindanao you are from, things like these but really nothing that is personal. You can post it in the Outside DIY Shack, under the main topic of MEMBER INTRODUCTION so that the admins can sort of give you a formal acknowledgement or a welcome and the same way with other members here too.

Thanks a lot.

Re: FEEDBACK and REVIEW for YAMATO 200 DC Inverter arc welder

It took a while to post again. Anyway, I've been using the Yamato nearly five months now with around 15 kilos of sticks (around 3-5 kgs for "tests"). I'm still a newbie as I sometimes need a couple of sticks to warm up with a good weld (for me).

After a number of few minor repair projects, I bit the bullet and aimed to build an aquarium stand. No mean fete for a few but considering the size of 6ft x 2-1/2x 2-1/2 it was a large project for me. I was hesitant to use thicker sticks at the start as I find the welding machine quite small. However, when push comes to shove as a delivery date has been set for my aquarium, I was able to use thicker sticks with no problem at all. I used the recommended stick that has more penetrating qualities than the 60xx. Normal settings was between 120-140A. I used 6mm thick angle bars, btw. For thinner and 60xx sticks, 80-100A is my range (for less than 6mm thickness too).

see pic below. (painted - kakahiya welds ko hahaha... Too many cycles of Grind and Re-Weld until I was satisfied). Don't let the size of the Yamato inverter fool you. In my experience, it really gets the job done.

After this, confidence set in and was able to get supplements such as -

and just recently,

Re: FEEDBACK and REVIEW for YAMATO 200 DC Inverter arc welder

Bro jolens,

GO GO GO brad, don't mind so much the ugly welds, kaya nga tayo may angle grinders to help us grind those ugly welds and then re apply again until we become satisfied, hehehe, bro most of us doing fine with our welds now went thru also that stage of making ugly and perhaps terrible weld applications. Don't worry about it ! :p

OH, very nice welding ADH you got there, siguro naman mas gaganahan ka na sa mga metal projects mo sa future ano ????

P P P, Practice, Practice, at Practice pa rin !!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehe 😀

Re: FEEDBACK and REVIEW for YAMATO 200 DC Inverter arc welder

nice !

@JayL, I was intent on getting this - http://www.airgas.com/browse/productDetail.aspx?Category=14&product=JAC3001798

But the delivery takes time so we scouted for another shop. The other shop recommended the Bernard which is similarly rated at 400A - http://www.toolfetch.com/Category/Welding/360-40B.htm . Accdg to the seller, Bernard sells quicker than any brand.

Same price. I had it sent along with other goodies in a balikbayan box (my Bro is in Lax). Btw, I also got a box of E7018 sticks (3/32) by Lincoln along with the kit.

Re: FEEDBACK and REVIEW for YAMATO 200 DC Inverter arc welder

and just recently,

Yes definitely these are good brands of electrode holders, the Tweco and Bernard brands specially coming from bro JayL's recommendation, I have one too of the Tweco brand, same as kabasor's and its from TOOLEC.

Now my concern here is that this kind of electrode holder might not be good for newbies yet in the sense that what if the welding rod sticks to the surface being welded, what will our newbies do, you won't be able to remove the rod from the short stub electrode holder compared to the ordinary jaw or scissor type of holder, one can just easily press the small lever to release the welding electrode, and there it is ones the welding rod has been released, it can easily be removed from being stuck on the material being welded. 😉

Hey I am not discouraging you newbies from using this cool holders but better to get used first with the ordinary jaw type holder and get to learn how to control starting up your rods without sticking it to the metal being welded, hehehehe, you might just get panicky if you can't dislodge your welding electrode sticking from the metal. 😮

Hope this helps !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just my 2CENTS worth of advice.

Bro Rosy ... how much do these Tweco stingers cost at Toolec?

I remember some discussions in welding web about these ... here's one thread.

Re: FEEDBACK and REVIEW for YAMATO 200 DC Inverter arc welder

Bro JayL, kabasor was right, its kinda pricey for a rod holder, 😮 but its a good one, its Php 1,500.00.

I have been looking for this type for a long long time from Jackson brand but what they have here in stores are the ordinary jaw type, similar to what we got from Ms Mimi when we purchased our Yamato welders. 😉
