Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

HEHEHE, magseselos ?? LOL, I don't think so, I will still be using the YAMATO from time to time when it is needed for light metal projects. Actually its the Yamato AC welder that is now just gathering some dust and cobwebs inside my tool room. I just enjoy and love using the DC Inverter welders, much much better than the AC Yamato. :agree:

Actually I've been very busy with this new inverter welder this past days, preparing the materials I will be using for the actual weld applications and reviews. 😉

natotorure na ako Brader Rosy, kelan kaya ung welder review with pics?:D

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

OK guys, here's my initial review for this Inverter machine !! My initial weld application or machine break-in.

I may or may not produce good looking weld beads on the test materials, not a professional welder here but simply a hobby welder enjoying the use of this type of machines. My main concern and purpose here is finding out how this machine can withstand constant use, using different welding rods available locally and on different thickness of metals and different types of weld applications plus using different ampere settings.

Hope I can do justice with this review and that this Inverter machine can live up to its toughness and quality. I will show first some of the metal stocks I will be working on and eventually would head to a neighborhood junk shop for more extra thicker metals.

A scrap I-Beam cutting lying around the garage. I suppose this may be a worthwhile material to burn those welding electrodes.

Some scrap square bars and flat bars welded to produce practice materials for root pass and edge weldings.

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

Made some TEE-Joints using some left over 3'16" flat bars.

And some scrap 16 mm corrugated steel bars welded at the end parts with 1/16" gap each for 6011 and 7018 weld applications.

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

These will be the initial stocks to be worked on and will just be adding more when needed.

The set up and getting ready for the days work.

What I did with the scrap I- Beam and the rest of the other metals was to grind them using grinding disc, flap disc and attachable wire wheels simply to remove rust build ups. 😉

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

AND HERE'S THE FIRST TEST APPLICATIONS:

These are the ends of the 5 rods I have consumed, its a bit more than 1", but I was told that in a welding school, what is required is I think at least 2" or 2 1/2". Well I suppose I was just maximizing my rods usage. LOL

On this first test weld applications, I worked on one flat surface of the I-Beam , made some five lines using a soapstone chalk as my guide. My plan here was just to use E6013 1/8" rods using different ampere settings, from 100 amps up to 140 amps, consuming each rod completely for each line. Purpose was to know if the unit welder will lit up its OC warning bulb due to sort of continuous weld applications. If you will notice too on the second photo, on the left side I have listed down the plan for each electrode application.

RESULT : Well, it did held up and no warning bulb lighting up. I was really looking or watching the welder after each rod applications. Additional info is that the unit when turned on surprisingly ran more quieter than my other 200 DC Inverter.

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

OK, here are the cleaned weld beads, done only with E6013 1/8" rods.

1st line of weld at 100 amp setting, done with a very tight CIRCULAR motion. Reaching almost the end of the flat portion of the metal but not quite really.

2nd line of weld at 110 amp setting with a tight letter C motion (side to side). A bit shorter compared to the first line.

3rd line of weld at 120 amp setting done with a tight WIP and PAUSE (push & pull) motion. Has become shorter than the first two applications.

4th line of weld at 130 amp setting done with a wider letter C motion (side to side). This one has become really more shorter than the first three.

5th line of weld at 140 amp setting done with a loose or wider WIP and PAUSE (push&pull). Almost the same length of the second line.

So far so good for these almost continuous weld applications !!!

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

Yes bro amboy,

I have that already in mind of making a cart for the stick welders, hindi ko pa nakukuha yung unit, already in the planning stage and I do have a sketch for it now together with my 2 YAMATO welders.

Papadating din yun, nakaka pagod din lagi buhatin yung HiTronic unit, its heavy for a 17.5 kg. :obvious::agree::clap::superhero2:

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

Yes bro JayL, I'll take a pic of the underside of the scrap I-Beam tomorrow. With regards to the thickness of the test metal, I think its 3/16" of an inch.
Never thought it would be so hot near the neck, chest and stomach area while doing the 5 straight weld applications when consuming all the rods almost one after the other.

[COLOR="Green"]Some OT here :
Oh by the way, its been taking me quite a long time to post replies, I think the web server or whatever of the PHM site has a bit of a problem. I cannot access new posts or replies, the scroll bar would stay stacked or freeze even though I'd go around the different threads or click the Today's Post. Any body experiencing this too ??
Bro Ding informed me this am about his experience as well.

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

Anyway some more continuation of the tests :

Well the exercise will be for these two items. Bevel edge welding applications. 😎

Using 2 different sizes of welding electrodes, E6013s 3/32" at 90 amps and a 1/8" at 120 amp.

Re: HiTronic Arc 300 Inverter

Here are Fillet applications of different types of welding electrodes using different ampere settings again on the scrap I-Beam.

I will start with 6013, 1/8" rods at 130 amps.

The inside joint of the I-Beam. Wire brushed and grinded the inside edge to clean and remove most of the rust particle that have been stocked for quite sometime, thought not totally removed.

This last pic was edited to enhance the weld bead application and show the two or three worm hole defects. Typical of 6013 welding electrodes. 😮
This application consumed almost two rods.
