Some cheap angle grinders abound the market like these Hoyoma and JC Kawasaki brands. Are they really good? How's their performance?

I have read somewhere that there's an advantage of having several angle readers, and had myself experienced working with one grinder only.
Big hassle when you have to change the abrasive disc with flap disc and cutting disc and other discs. Time consuming din kasi.

I'm thinking to buy myself an angle grinder, a price of makita or bosch can buy you two pieces of those brands above. So which is which?

Thanks PHM'ers.:thanks:

Unknown China-made tools are good for light or occasional use. If you have big projects which require whole day use of tools, get the branded ones. If you are like me, a weekend DIYer (and not all weekends at that), cheaper brands suffice.

It is my first time to hear about Hoyama. JC Kawasaki though you can find where cheap tools abound.

Personally, just try the branded ones. There those meant for light use (e.g. B&D, Skil) and for heavy use (e.g. Makita)

Haven't tried these two brands but seen lots of them sold sa OLX. Can't comment really with regards to its quality, maybe they are just for light duty applications that is why they are so cheap. My grinders are mostly the heavy duty type like Makita, DeWalt and Bosch and these are proven and tested for heavy grinding or cutting. Other members here also uses the Metabo brand but of course price of that brand is way too stiff . Now if you prefer your grinder to last long, better get the heavy duty type.

But if you insist on the cheap ones then go ahead, try the Hoyoma and find out for yourself if it will just be enough for your purpose.

Good luck on your choice !!

Just found out that Goldpeaktools carry the J.C. Kawasaki brand http://goldpeaktools.com.ph/products/powertools/jck.html

You can ask someone in the shoutbox about this brand.

Thanksand @fourtheboys96.

Yes. I have seen goldpeaktools online carry both brand and are priced as cheap as 950 petot in their promo and comes with carrying case! ( i dont have any business nor association with goldpeak to promote their items, just sharing guys).

And it seems to me that these grinders are good for light works, like being on a weekend warrior use as mentioned by fourtheboys96.

Also, Goldpeak claim that these grinder have the same parts as (Japan made) Makita N5900B (i think it should be N9500B), so it made me think it is durable as well.

And I agree with Rosy, ipon mode muna ako to have a heavy duty one, Makita or Bosch or maybe Dewalt brand then buy two of these cheap ones so i would always have a to-go-to grinder if come situation arises too much for the cheapy grinder to handle.

I hope coolmaxheric chime in to help.

Buy one heavy duty angle grinder and get another cheap diy light duty angle grinder, use it for your purpose and then compare each other in terms of quality, how the motor runs, ease of use, etc, etc. Oh consider also the availability of a service center and parts just in case the grinder becomes defective. Yung mga mura madaling masunog ang motor or makaskas ang gears.

Thanks Rosy.

I have fixed myself to buy this Bosch GWS 060 Angle grinder priced at 1995 php. It has 670W rated motor and weighs about 1.6 kg, is it a good buy?

Any comment about this? Is this a heavy duty grinder?

This will be my first Bosch power tool.

Thank you sa walang sawang reply.

I have a dewalt grinder courtesy of wifey. I do not know if it is heavy duty but it served me well up to this point.

My Black and Decker drill is more than 10 years old and still kicking (fingers crossed hahaha)

, Bosch is a known brand so if your asking if the grinder you bought is good quality wise, I will say yes. Now price-wise, just compare to other known brands. Mukhang mura siya kaso lahat ng power tools nagmura na compared 10 years ago.

You can't go wrong with Bosch.

Bosch PSB 400 hand drill. Already 17 years old and still going.

2 Bosch variable speed angle grinders. One is 3 years old the other is 1 year old.

Mentioned above you said Goldpeak claims that these grinder have the same parts as Makita N5900B/N9500B.

This is a "grinder" post correct, why does a Hoyama grinder have Makita circular saw parts?

Note: There are three importer showroom/stores within the area, you can get very, very agreeable prices (that'll make your pocket smile) like Metabo (all my discs) and Bosch (my powertools aside from Ryobi). Another importer within the proximity is Panda the main at Araneta (not the one in Binondo http://www.pandatools.ph/ ) most of my toys are from there, if you know your tools they have the best options for your budget that are class A or within spec.

Bosch is my awesome grinder till now next is Ryobi with Metabo discs. Bosch up to now is better than Black and Decker or DeWalt which is now manufactured from China.

Just an update with my thread.

Ended up with several grinders. All 4 inchers.

And my wife keeps asking why i had so much of this tool luckily di niya kilala ung mga tools, hahaha.

Have four now in my arsenal. Makita, Bosch, Dewalt and a light duty JC Kawasaki.

The Kawasaki brand comes with a case making it very easy for storing. Power is good enough to simple tasks and very easy to handle. It doesn't vibrate as much. Noise level is very acceptable, mas tahimik siya compared to my Bosch maybe because this Kawasaki is only a 580 watt tool against Bosch 750 watt. I have designated this grinder for sanding/polishing jobs (flap disk).

Bosch is an all around grinder. Very versatile but a bit noisy especially when using with grinding wheel. It can take even on the toughest job i have at hand. I want to let go of it when i have receive my Makita, but this is Bosch, i rather keep it for sure it will last long on me. It's a heavy duty grinder. So, instead i designate it for use with cutting disk and diamond wheels, less noise and cutting is very easy with the ample power. Only drawback i have with this grinder is that medyo mahirap i-adjust or i-rotate yung guard niya. I don't use my grinder without it unless i'm only doing sanding or polishing.

Next is Makita, this my favorite among the lot. Seen a lot of work already, rated at 840 watt it can do almost every thing. What i liked most about this Makita is that it has more tolerable noise level than the Bosch though it has higher power rating. Guard adjustment is very easy but its a bit heavy for me. It does not vibrate much like the Kawasaki. Removing metal is very easy with this tool.

Last is the Dewalt, its latest addition. It is my back up for Makita. The tool has a 720 watts powered motor. Tried and ramdam mo agad ung power niya. Does not heat up easily like Makita but with lighter weight and smaller body which make it very easy to grip. Build is great.

Thanks a lot sa mga nag advice above.

My recommendation when using angle grinder: Always use it with the auxiliary handle attached and with googles or face shield on.

Keep safe DIYing.

, Bosch, sure is a very good brand. Aside from angle grinder, I also own a Bosch drill and driver (GSR1000) and an impact driver (GDR 120) both cordless tool.

This is really a good brand that somebody got to imitate them for money (counterfeits Bosch product) and please beware of these products.

I have a fair share too with these fake Bosch which i happened to bought from a reputable seller at Sulit.com online.

Charged to experience na lang yung fake angle grinder ko. Hahaha

But, why do my JC Kawasaki and Makita doesn't make that noise just so much? Are they related? Same manufacturer?

I guess it's on the inside, maybe on the gearing.

I really recommend this Makita grinder to anybody.

Keep safe DIYing.

Just for clarification, same design as N9500N or 9500NB.
Sorry, if their is any confusion.

There will be more brands of powertools coming in PH by 2017.
There will be more alternative choices but for the ones choosing to use themselves, don't settle for less.

Buy the tested and quality brands.
There will always be risk when choosing the lower brands.

And always check for the warranty protection that suits you.
