For those metalheads , here is one source of cheaper metals.
If you have your own source too, please let us know. After all, not all of us is near Valenzuela.
where'd you get the metal sheets?
And the square tubes, too.
🙂
Re: Metal Scrap Source
Along macArthur hway, Dalandanan Valenzuela, Near Meralco office
Some of these are new but most of it are scraps.
Re: Metal Scrap Source
Aside from getting these metals at lower price.
You can also get it shorter , smaller than what the hardwares stores selling it.
If your buying pipe in Hardware stores,
You'll be forced to buy 20-feet pipe even if you'll be needing only 3 feet.
In scrap yard you'll see most of it in crazy sizes and shapes.
Re: Metal Scrap Source
god them pipes!
Re: Metal Scrap Source
there's another one at masinag on marcos hiway just past sumulong hiway if you're going to antipolo. i forgot the name but it is beside lucban auto supply on your right.
i think the metals they sell are cut off from the metal factory. they got different sizes, brand new but a lot cheaper.
check them out.
Re: Metal Scrap Source
These are good to use infos indeed!
Can anyone give an idea of the ongoing rate per kilo?
Is a difference if the piece is tubular, solid or flat?
Thanks Guys!!
Re: Metal Scrap Source
In my hometown, scrap metal is 30 bucks a kilo- be it grade 5 bolts or angle bars. The next town - which is home to a few industrial parks- has better choices, 35 per kilo.
....Still feel bad about a mitutoyo cross-vise used in a microscope. Essentially 2 micrometers with .01mm graduations, i left it for a week, when i came back it was sent to the real scrapper- melted down >_<.

Re: Metal Scrap Source
I hope I can find scrap yards like Ben posted here or near Pasay. Most of the scrap dealers I visited sell their stuff to bigger dealers who collect the pile weekly ( I believe) . The shops are not really organized for retailing and it's mostly a hit or miss depending on luck.

Re: Metal Scrap Source
Thanks for the info on the metal scrap sellers!!! But most are in the Northern part of Manila. For the benefit of those living some where in the south here is a few cents worth of info:
EAST SERVICE RD PARANAQUE
ROMY BARBA
RONNIE
8233135 (If you are coming from Pasay, this is on the left service rd. Before approaching the bicutan area. The store is on the left right after the big Pizzahut signage ad.
EPSA #14 JP RIZAL TUGATOG MALABON
30 - 40 PER KILO 2871277
COSMOS STEEL MILL - LOWER BICUTAN AFTER
PETRON STATION - They also sell seconds at much lower prices. This is a real mill. From Bicutan go all the way down the lower bicutan area. Then turn left. Go about 2 kilometers and you will see a petron station. It will be somewhere there. You can ask the tricycle cab drivers. They would know.
