Cheapest way of maintaining nozzle for spatter free is to use vaseline or petroleum jelly. Soak the nozzle to the jar then start weld.

Can this Petroleum Jelly be an effective substitute to the Mig nozzle gel being sold by Hobart ? How will you rate its
effectivity compared to Hobart's nozzle gel ?

Thanks

I've been using this technique for 5 yrs now. This is the cheapest alternative solution. This is like using break fluid to take out the rusty nuts vs using WD 40. Try it and compare.
Thanks.
