I saw JayL's Miller 180... He told me if I want a good one, he would recommend the 211 (in the US, there's no more 180 in their line up; probably replaced by the 190).

So far, the only advantage I see of the 211 is the dual voltage (110v or 220-240v). Considering that we are only 220v here anyway, the capability of 110v is of no use here in the Philippines. The 190 is maybe about (a little more than) $100 difference.

Too bad about Toolec - went to them in E. Rodriguez, and they sell the Miller 180 for P62,500. I can get the Miller 190 for about P47k (landed cost - about P42k for the unit and P5k for shipping). If they sold the Miller for less than P50k, I would gladly support the local business. But the 15k difference is a bit much.

On the other hand, I can get the Miller 211 for P55k or P56k landed cost. I don't mind getting the 211 over the 190 _IF_ there are capabilities of the 211 that are worth it (the biggest selling point was the 110v capability, which isn't a factor here in the Philippines). The only other thing is the current rebate of the 211 (but that is a long process of putting the welder in a relative's name (in the US) to get the rebate and all that).

After the rebate, the 211 is almost the same price as the 190. But if the 211 really doesn't have any major advantage over the 190, I'd get the 190 na lang.

If you can afford the MM211, then get it and not think of its dual voltage usage. Aside from the dual voltage, it can weld min steel of 24 gauge up to max of 3/8" mild steel, stainless or aluminum. Well aside from GMAW applications, you can use it for FCAW applications as well.

The MM190 can weld min mild steel of 24 gauge up to max of 5/16" thick only, still is a dual voltage machine.

If you will decide on the MM190, check out first the Hobart 190 mig welder, same capabilities of the Millermatic but only with one voltage usage perfect for the Philippines, its 230 volts only. Its a GMAW machine, can be used for FCAW and for aluminum if you buy their spool gun and its cheaper than the Miller Mig machines.

Thanks, Rosy. Will get the MM211 na lang. Won't get the spoolgun yet, as don't plan to do any aluminum (yet).

Medyo "tanga" yung website: MM211 is $1,095, but with cart, it's $1,295. Same website offers the cart for $168. Duh! Eh, di MM211 and buy the cart separately na lang (I know it's better/cheaper to DIY the cart, but...).

Thanks!

Bro, I thought all the while you will try first to buy a Cigweld 135 and find out if you will like doing mig welding before plunging into something bigger or more expensive machine. Never the less what ever is your decision, enjoy pursuing your dream project/s.

Yeah, but life is short... need to enjoy some things. I ended up reading JayL's Mig Welding Newbie thread (VERY informative). Ended up getting the Miller 211. What with Christmas rush and all, baka after Christmas na (and, indeed, early next year na) dumating.

I ordered a helmet, the Millermatic 211, two rolls of mig wire (.030 and .024), nozzle dip, a tweco ground clamp, and some tips. Kung kulang pa, sa Toolec na lang ako kukuha. Then, for various magnets and clamps, I got some from JayL na; if I need more, I'll just go to him.

I have justified the purchase na (don't we all) because my mechanic (who is working on my DIY car -- a Locost, aka Lotus 7 replica) says that he can rent my machine every time he has a job (he is a trusted mechanic), to the tune of P500 to P1,000 per project. He says that when he stick welds, he charges P50-100 for small jobs, but with a MIG, he can charge P400-500 for small jobs (that take 15 minutes to finish), to P3,000 for bigger jobs (

Then, my sewing machine mechanic says it can be useful for all the sewing machines and attachments we use and modify, as well as for the sewing machine tables which we have repaired every so often, plus it will be useful for the various constructions we do in the mall (granted, we have been quite okay with the cheapo stick welder).

Both my mechanics are quite fascinated with tools, so they kinda egged me to get one anyway (not that I needed any encouragement, LOL).

Sir

Just to inquire, did you order thru online ? How did you ship it to ph?

Custom taxes and duties included , how much did it all add up?
Congrats on the Miller welder sir , pls post it when it arrives ok 🙂

@ sir Rosy ,
How much kaya landed cost nung Hobart? Cheaper than Miller? Performance wise which is better?

From all my readings, Hobart is owned by Miller; two different welders, but very similar. Yung Miller mas high end models nila. I also read that the Hobart welders are just okay, except for the Ironman (I think) model, which is very good.

I got Miller and paid the premium for it (over the Hobart) simply because baka mas meron parts ang Toolec.

I ordered from Welding Supplies of IOC, through their ebay site. I haven't been given a quote yet by my freight forwarder, but I would guess $75 (including all the other stuff I bought from Amazon and other sites). Alam ko pag balikbayan box, all in na ang duties and taxes. However, normally for big ticket items, there should be additional tariff charges (still only around $50), but suki ako, so they'll probably waive it.

I personally use Forex Cargo, but any of the freight forwarders (Manila Forwarders, Johnny Sea Cargo, LBC, etc) are all good.

Hey adzz,

Frankly speaking I have no idea how much ang landed cost nyan dito. That will depend on the model of Hobart Mig welder you want to purchase. The Hobart Handler 190 is much cheaper than the HH 210 and H Ironman 230. I myself is considering the Miller 211 or Hobart Handler 210 but if I could wait some more and save up additional money, I will be considering and targeting the Hobart Ironman 230.

This is a very powerful and versatile machine that I have been thinking of for the past several months now
and hopefully ...................make it happen.

Performance wise from various reviews I have read, Hobart welders are excellent welders too, yes they are cheaper than the Miller brand.

Check prices sa Amazon.co or CYBERWELD and compare prices.

Cheers

Hmph... one of the ebay sellers (other items) got delayed in sending some small stuff... This week pa lang i-pa-pack ng Forex, so baka end of this week pa umalis yung barko. 2nd or 3rd week (or last week) pa ng January ito darating. (sigh).

I guess you just have to have more patience with regards to your items ordered from abroad, I suppose its an sop already that packages coming from abroad will take 1 1/2 to 2 months before it reaches its final destination.
Just like my new AHP Tig welder, ordered by a good friend from amazon more or less about second week of Sept. then just recently received the package about 2nd week of Nov.

Hi @Alfalfameister, dumating na ba 190 mo? I have a short communication with Toolec sales rep named Klint and the price is now 10% discount around 70K for millermatic 190 but still expensive comparing if I will import it directly it will cost only 50k net air freight including local taxes and 7-10 days eta, I'm about to go with his offer but the 15-20k difference is too much talaga.

I also tried to call the miller official distributor here in our region which is in singapore they are saying their local partner here is Toolec, I asked them If I can buy there direct and ship the welder to my SG Friend address they said they cant do that since Im here in Philippines also the SG version they only sell there will be a lot of question if I will order 60hz.

This thread help me on my decision and you can buy more stuff on 15-20k decision, madali naman i shipback if ever magkaproblema. (papasabay sa baggage)

I will go to directly import na lang same with your decision and buy the savings for my initial purchase of safety gears like helmet gloves etc.
