Re: Please show your Welders

@jayL, 90amp version of the ozitos ranges from 4.5k up (underpowered, lacks the reactor, quite difficult to mod). 120amp version 6k up (good for thicker metals, has the reactor, easy to mod). I saw a converted one selling at 9.5k at Sulit. The seller was also offering upgrade kits at 3k++ but I could not get a clear answer from him regarding the rating of the components he'll be using on my unit so I thought of doing the mod myself by taking notes from another forum.

Re: Please show your Welders

I purchased a few Tweco Products to see how good these are. The welder is only as efficient as the Ground Clamp and Electrode Holder it's attached too. These Tweco are Copper Alloys unlike those of cheaper Chinese made counterparts.

Ground Clamp

Thermal Arc looks like a good product also but pricey. Rated at 160A but for sure the specs is what it says it is. A 200A Chinese made welder might even put out less.

I could be wrong but the more I think about it is that a good STICK / TIG package would be better to have that an MIG. Probably cheaper to operate too. Would appreciate inputs from guys doing research on this subject too. tks

Re: Please show your Welders

@clay?
mind if you can post how good Ozito welder is?

thanks

To be honest.. Its kinda crappy... Its just like stick welding, since it still runs in AC current... I'm still working on the conversion to DC...

Mine is the 90Amp model. Your right, its much harder to mod up. But I like it since I need it in thin sheets and metal. I also like the portability of the flux cored.

I already built a choke transformer for it.(Reactor type to filter DC currents) I'm still working on the rectifier bridge(DC conversion). I also prepared aluminum cooling fins for the transformer.
