Re: Stick Welding Machine

Usually if I weld thicker metals I use high penetration 6011 rods for the root pass and then the 7024 for fillet pass.

Re: Stick Welding Machine

has anybody tried the INCREWELD or any of those shoe box size welders. it would just be for home use touching up on cracks on metal door hinges and the wrought iron fence bars that have corroded away.

Any ideas on this? I'm interested on this as well.

Nice site, I hope I had the time to train for the welding primer. They do also sell welding machines, not sure how good is it in terms of wallet err welding i mean :p

Re: Stick Welding Machine

@JayL,

ganito mo din ba nakuha yung Cigweld rod?

kaya siguro mura for P350 /5kilo kasi matagal ng stock? hehe
pero ok naman sya gamitin kasi nag try na ako kanina. non-sticky nga hehe i loveeee itt!!

regarding sa WIP welding machine, hmmm 24 months warranty ha? ang tagal hehe

yung training as beginner P10K for 23 days
P7k for 10days for those who have long experienced on the job.

during weekdays lang at walang weekends training e 🙁

Re: Stick Welding Machine

Yeah that's normal. Just try to keep these dry as much as possible. No need to maintain arc gap, just drag it. Watch out for the best amperage setting and the drag speed to create good weld beads.

I made some DIY PVC Pipe storage for the rods that I will use. The rest I keep sealed in the original packing w/ tape.

However I'm planning to get some of these rod storage later. I buy different rods for different welding purposes. 6011 for high penetration, 6013 for normal use etc and in different sizes.

Re: Stick Welding Machine

@JayL,
thanks for info. im keeping those rod 6011/6013 and 7024 to tight container wherein my bag of cement still ok for more than 6 months 😀 . yup, still experementing with the best amperage possible setting for E7024, i like using it compare to 6013 hehe...
thanks.

Good Idea Sir Ossie!

Let me know your outcome, I'd like to jump into the band wagon as well, just wondering why the price seems more than acceptable.

Have been using Nihonweld standard 6013 these past years, Wanted to know if your new batch of E7024 is still as good as what sir JayL bought a bit earlier.

Cheers!

Re: Stick Welding Machine

Hi Sir JayL,

Do you have any idea on calibration or referencing these stick welders?

I bought this big welding machine (on wheels) years ago used, from a mass producing shop, the entire core move in and out each other to control the induction level, and hence its power output.

It has a multi-turn handle on top (perhaps 10 Turns/ inch) that can raise the center core out, to a max height of around 8 inches, so that would be its minimum setting.

Since there is no actual reference on amperage, I only use it by hit or miss setting.

Hope you have some idea on how this can be done, knowing your prowess on these things.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Stick Welding Machine

@john-jo,
yeah, at first after im wondering why the price of Nihonweld and Wipweld rods almost double compare to Cigweld which is Australian made as what Sir JayL said and its labeled in the box. is it maybe because its slow moving item? or not moving at all? or also because the welding rod staritng to acquire foreign materials(black color as what i posted in the picture) compare on what we are buying in the hardware which are clean as brand new rod hehe just my observation.

yup, the rod still good you will love using it especially on flat and horizontal position)hehehe

BTW, their (toolec) E6013 rod also priced same with their E7024 but out of stock. P70/kilo P350/5 kilo.

thanks

Hi John,

I think these type of welders are better than the ones with preset settings like what I have because you will have better control of the amperage setup.

Setting it by hit and miss is OK but try to make some custom markings once you zero in on your settings for repeatability purposes.

Do you have some pics?

Re: Stick Welding Machine

It made me miserable, Now! Im looking on upgrading my equipment.

Then, I saw some japanese surplus welding machine and im curious because if i compare my portable chinese 120 amp with the japanese 150amp it is around three times heavier and bigger. And im sure that 30amp difference would not add those big bulks. I got my chinese welder shiny bnew at around 5k and those old, worn japanese surplus are being sold at 9k. Why? could the difference they're talking about, is somewhere there?

These jap welding machines being sold are from an importer that distributes it to different industrial shops and hardwares in metro manila. And it is an opportunity if i will be getting cus of its price, condition, and its not always available anywhere else.

Thanks for those who would answer.

I got one of those bulky welding machine.. actually mine is rated around 300A... the cords are heavier, and really bulky... the only thing I like about it is that I could stand long hours of welding( has a longer duty cycle), and could accomodate a bigger welding rod...

But I use my portable welder most of the time(200A Powercraft).. since the output is almost the same..

Except on cutting( the bigger welder is better)

now, I'm planning to convert my portable welder to AC/DC.. I'm still looking for a High Ampere Stud diode...

I suggest you save for a DC welder instead, or try to convert your existing to AC/DC

AC, alternates its positive w/ negative(+/- ) on electrode and ground (kinda unstable)
DC Negative (-): Heats up the metal, lesser heat on electrode
(Perfect for thick metals, or hardsteel)
DC Positive (+) Heats up electrode, lesser heat on metal
(Perfect for thin metals, soft metals)
