I expect to use these for knotted wire cup brush use where the power is required. You don't want the power for a cutting disk as any less powerful unit will quickly do. The power also comes in handy when hanging discs start to wear out, and you have to press harder to get the last bit of use out of that item.

These are also very smooth and low in vibration. The paddle switch is easy to use and since you have to hold the tool anyway, is the only way a dangerous weapon like any angle grinder should be used. I got that lesson the hard way when I had an angle grinder with a normal on/off switch get bent out of my hands, and it continued to rise my chest and flew over my arm and continued gyrating on the ground till I unplugged its power cord. I no longer own an angle grinder with an on/off switch, and I own 11 angle grinders.

I've had nothing but good success with Makita angle grinder. I had thought about going battery-powered, but elected to get this Makita instead. It's easy to use, fits well in my hands, and has no problem cutting through pavers and the like. I would recommend it to anyone interested in a quality piece of equipment.

Most Makita power tools currently sold in North America are manufactured in Japan or China. Here are a few exceptions to this rule:
3" x 18" belt sander - made in England
chain saws - made in Germany

Just for reference,
makita grinders are double bearing and they used a simple and locally available ball bearings. Also, the original makita grinder that my father bought around 1990's are still up and running they just have to replce carbon brush and it is good to go again.
I also opened a Dewalts, they are also good in construction since they are also double bearing on the head, Dewalts used a barrel type bearing on the back part of the grinder and I thought that it may be a little difficult to find this type of bearing if it broke.
I used lotus brand grinders and they are a piece of crap. Single bearing on the head and only use shaft on the back part. Will be used up soon and vibrations will start to be heavy on the hands while using the tool sooner you will have to replace the grinder altogether even though the motor is still running good.
For the Bosch, It is just very noisy. I did not have a bosch grinder so i do not have a clue on the construction of the tool. But I tested the tools displayed on the malls, it is just too noisy compared to Makita or Dewalts.

I used to have a Lotus 5" angle grinder, bought it because it was cheap, sad to say it did not last that long, I suppose it was only for DIY/ occasional usage and not for heavy duty applications. Now my angle grinders are DeWalts, Makitas and Bosch and Milwaukee, from 4" to 9". A bit pricey for angle grinders but hey they are made to last, really robust and really for heavy duty applications.

It pays to buy these power tools from reputable dealers to get the real genuine gadget/tool and not the fake ones that are flooding Raon or Quiapo area or even some on line sellers. :nono:
