Milton 8 in 1/4 hp 😛 2,350.00
Showa 8 in 1/4 hp :P2,350.00
Johnshon Electric 8 in 1/2 hp: P3,000.00

Re: Which bench grinder?

If you want Made in Taiwan then you can also consider Champion Bench Grinders. I believe Mimi at EY Industrial sales has these in 6" and 8" sizes. Prices are within the range you had posted.

I believe I paid 3.5K for my 8" bench grinder.

Yes bro JayL, I was suppose to suggest this brand too since you showed me this bench grinder and said its a good brand, a heavy duty one at the warehouse of Ms Mimi then when we had our weld machine group buy last year. Actually I am also planning of buying one from EY Industrial Sales to augment my other bench grinder by adding a wire wheel. At least now I have an idea how much it will cost more or less. 😉

Thanks for the confirmation and info !!! 😎

Re: Which bench grinder?

salamat sa mga komento pinoy handymen....noted down sa list of specs and prices ang mga sinabi nyo. kasali kasi ito sa mga tools to buy ko. pero actually chopsaw ang first on the list. 2nd itong bench grinder and then some other angle grinders. im also reading other threads here in phm regarding chopsaws and grinders.

Re: Which bench grinder?

From the few "lagare/hasa" stalls i've been to, it appears they favor champion grinders with that unmistakable green hammered finish. They run it for prolonged times, making teeth for saws so it must be reliable, and present a good value.

....
Got two grinders here (just followed me home inexplicably, like a stray dog, or so i say to the wife.) There is nothing special about the chinese-made makita. The wheels that came with it was mediocre, you could stop the motor if you push the piece hard enough, the eye shields and rests were pretty cheesy. (But it has its uses when you work within the limitations, and the light was useful.)

Now i learned that i prefer wire brushes on a 6" 1750RPM- less wind and vibration issues. Wheels are common in the 1/2" bore, 6" diameter dimension too. Perhaps i'll get a Norton beartex (convolute wheel) since i hear it's so much useful and safe like this one /index.php/view+classifieds/id/1347089"> http://www. ***********/index.php/view+classifieds/id/1347089 . That or the nylon wheel Jayl has.

I really prefer slow-speed 1750 RPM for the smoothness, but ok, an 8" 3600 really hogs off material. Last night i cut and smoothed out stainless steel to make a key ring more pocketable. Impossible or would have take hours with a mill file, and much nicer to use than an angle grinder.

Since eye protection is a must when using these, I had it in a container on top of it (a magnet holds it in.) I'm able to use these two for now, but I still haven't finished making these two look good.
