Reporting that my Yamato 200A DC IGBT went dead yesterday.
A workman borrowed it for gusset welds two stories up in scaffolding
outside a residence, and when he came down, it was kaput: plugged
in, its power switch did nothing. I'd bought the unit late in 2012.

The good news is, I brought the DC unit in for repairs at EY Industrial
sales (aka IndustrialSupply143) on Kapiligan Street, just past the corner
with Balabac Street (off Araneta Ave.)...

and I got it back, all fixed, in less than 24 hours.
No fee charged.
Picked it up just this afternoon, in fact.

Turns out, it was just a power cord failure, which their techie said is
the problem with a lot of IGBT's brought in for servicing, probably due
to users chronically pulling the welder farther from a power outlet than
its cord naturally allows.

Heads up: although they say their old landline from D. Tuazon is still in
use, it's often dead. An alternative landline to call is 416-5659, and ask
for Rhen, as Mimi advised me to.

Mimi is apparently less-directly involved with frontline operations, but still
helps out those who stupidly pester her via cell phone, lol.

Glad to know your Yamato is fine and working with a very minor or negligible defect caused by human errors. I think your unit is still under warranty so no problem with some fees or charges.

Thanks too for the information on the new number to call ([COLOR="Green"] 416-5659 ) and the new guy who is in charge, is he the one in sales/marketing now or part of the technicians ? What happened to the certain Joseph S as also suggested by Mimi ?

Oh reminder bro about the [COLOR="Red"]red light warning, once it lits up, stop welding, turn off the machine and rest the unit for a minute or two after which you can proceed with the welding. Do tell your people not to abuse it, remember its only 200 amps.

bought my Yamato machine March 26, was able to use it maundy thurs and half of saturday before it went dead on me, bought it back sa E.Y. for repair yesterday WED and is one of the people described by horge as stupidly pestering mimi, i left my unit for repair since technician wasnt there, i was so ready to just pick it up after work on it is done but Mimi instead shipped a new one to me via LBC, she is really a wonder woman. good to know there is a contact person in charge sa office as nakakalito kung sino ba talaga kailangan kausapin/lapitan dun since the old staff dont really know what they are there for anyways. thanks E.Y. and thanks Mimi for the special accommodation to PHM members

that happened to me, pinahiram ko ng aking makita demolition hammer, pag balik sira na, ang sabi ng kaibigan ko na humiram, wear and tear na yun pre, di naman bago unit, pasira na rin siguro at na timing sa akin, ended up spending 7k for the repair, sirang piston ang damage. anyways after that my freind stopped calling me. so not only did your tool got damaged, pati pag kakaibigan nyo sira din

No, it ISN'T all horror stories.
Just count how many 200A IGBT's have been sold to PHM'ers, and then count
how few of them have run into real problems. Mine likely wouldn't have had a
hiccup if I hadn't lent it out to a dirt-for-brains caveman. I confronted him about
the power cord, and he fessed to dropping the unit off the scaffold, the only
thing saving it from a two storey plunge being said power cord. Ayun, napigtas
sa terminals sa loob.

Yes, maganda ang aftersales service by E.Y. Industrial.
Mimi's great, but it's the whole aftersales organization that deserves praise...and
yet that's just icing on the pretty good cake that the Yamato 200A DC IGBT is.

HEHEHE, One will never ever know the kind of quality or capabilities of a weld machine if its only sitting there on top of a shelf or just inside its box, whatever brand it is. We purchased this machine due to its standing reputation plus price wise, its very affordable, plus again for it to be used but not abused nor just for collection purposes. :rolleyes:

Luckily we have a very excellent after sales service coming from EY Industrial Sales Inc. and Ms Mimi as part of the company who has been giving us (PHM DIYers) special accommodation, assistance and attention, so what more can we ask for. So do I see any horror story or stories behind this Yamato Inverter welding machine ??? NONE ! 😉 🙂

If there were some stories being told, then the problem comes from the users negligence or abuse !

OK PHM MEMBERS, HERE'S AN UPDATE CONCERNING EY INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY INC.

FIRSTLY, I was informed by Ms Mimi recently that any inquiries or questions regarding units purchased from them, just simply get in touch with their EY INDUSTRIAL secretary/front desk man [COLOR="Green"]RHEN or their new marketing guy sir [COLOR="Green"]JOSEPH S , and these two guys will gladly assists all our concerns with outmost care.

SECONDLY, starting Monday, July 29,2013, there will be an additional 200 pesos discount for units purchased by PHM members only. If our discounted price before was Php 5,800K, it will now be only [COLOR="red"]Php 5,600K.

But I am still hoping and will ask Mimi to peg it down to php 5,500K if possible to make it really as a special selling price for PHM members.
