I'm starting to plan to build my metal station for my abrasive and carbide tipped metal chopsaw.

Your suggestion is much appreciated.

The yellow tools is just for illustration only and the casters are not included on the design.

I have a similar setup... my cold saw is at the right side of my chopsaw. They are connected with a common fence. Its a space saver but the disadvantage is that the chop saw fence is on the right side so mas mahirap mag cut.

My chopsaw stand and fence is probably one of the most useful shop project I made mainly because I can cut metal faster, I can also cut metal of the same size repetitively using the stopper guide. I would also suggest to make the height of the fence adjustable so that you can always level it.

Yes space is a factor... but the good thing on this setup is that you can place it at corner side of you workshop!

Bro av,

Honestly speaking, in my opinion the second illustration of back to back chop saw has a more positive results more than the other one. Yes the first illustration has a more sturdy base but the positioning of the chop saws will have some problems during cutting. with regards to the lower chop saw, you'll have difficulty in using the 45 degree to cut your metal, I guess that saw will just be dedicated to a 90 degree cutting,I suppose. And with the upper saw, possibly sparks can't be completely controlled unless its gonna be the dry cut saw. You might need also to install some feed support for longer pipes or tubing on both sides.

Like I said, I prefer the second design but with some renovations or changes. I'd rather fabricate two rectangular tables tops facing each other with some 6" to 10" apart, one each for the chop saw but welded together under a support to hold the two rectangular table top Chop saws will not be exactly on a back to back position but on one end of the table or possibly can be moved from side to side when 45 degree cuts may be needed. You know how it is when using the abrasive saw, uncontrollable sparks all over, right. Legs can just be 4 pcs of 2 X 2 tubing with some support gussets under which I know you can easily do with your welder. Then just add some caster for easy movement.

Hope this helps. :trampoline::agree:

Bro, with a limited space as you have mentioned, this got me thinking, the suggestion I mentioned might not work for you since it will or might eat up a large space in your shop, perhaps you can consider a similar build chop saw station like JayL's or probably Bugel's built. The built is so compact and very functional. :thumbup:

The design originated from a metal worker/welder from www.weldingweb.com, an American forum and have seen other welders too on YouTube who have adapted the said design. In your case I suppose your main chop saw the cold saw can be placed on top and the other, the abrasive saw just under it if it is not in use. Consider this too for it might work for you as well since space is the issue. 😉
