Nagulat nga ako dahil pangit yun weld bead sa labas kasi hindi ko pa alam paano pagandahin. Pero yun sa loob ng weld solid na solid magdikit ng metal.

Medyo na encourage naman akong magbasa basa pa. Mukhang me future kasi sa stick welder ko sunog lahat mga joint ng aseradong angle bar na ito. Sa Mig parang wala lang at ang dali.

Oz ... glad you can drop by. I think dapat siguro maki pag kita muna ako ke Bigote bago ko umpisahan yun welding cart. 🙂

I hope I'm not boring you guys with this WIP. It's the only one I can think of for practice. I really don't want to start building a cart unless I'm familiar with the welder already. Metal tubes are expensive kasi.

Like Master Rosy says. Recycle .... from old computer case.

I wanted to see how the Mig welder can tack weld 20 Gauge sheet to the angle bar so I drilled holes on the sheet.

then tack welded ... works ok but not consistent as I'm playing with settings like wire speed, amps, gap ... and circular movements of the arc etc..

Looks like there really is no such thing as something for nothing. What time saved in slag removal ( stick welding ) is offset by the time it takes to prepare metals for Mig Welding. With stick this metal dirt is nothing specially using 6013 rods.

I can join metals easily but don't know how to make the welds pretty yet ...

This is what happens to Mig gas welding

when one forgets to turn off this and it messes around with the shielding gas

another advantage for stick as for it its necessary to blow off the fumes and cools the welding man as well ...LOL

Somewhat wasted wire as a result of studying wire feed and wire roll pressure settings .. will keep and re use these for oxy ace welding fillers

Some of our members here are lucky because they have spacious workshops. When you are just working on a 2 car garage like me space becomes a real premium.

Imagine I just want to take back the floor space taken by the rim stand so I have to go through all of this WIP.

I'll find a way to join all these pieces and hopefully lag bolt the new stand in the wall.

Nope, I'm not bored at all, in fact I follow your wip every night when I log in sa PHM, following your step by step progress even if its a simple project only, but that is according to you, he he he he. I'm just here watching and learning, watching and learning too from your simple wips and just continue what you are doing. i do understand the situation for sooner or later I may also be another mig welding newbie here. :p

I just hope ma realize ko target date ko for purchasing a TELWIN fluxcore/gas mig welder so we could compare its applications and learn from it also. Fluxcore muna pinili ko para hindi magastos. :rolleyes: 😉

Anyway watching mode muna ako sa day to day improvement mo sir Jay, just continue with the wip and in no time kuha mo na yan.

Oh if I may be permitted, if you have time check out videos of KEVIN CARON, he gives out very usefull and practical tips on how to use a mig welder, the speed, the position of the hand and the angle of the welding torch, really very informative. His welders are all millers too, from stick to tig welders. His tips are worth learning and very useful for 1G, 2G, 3G and 4G welding positions.

Hi there winxz,

What sir JayL is using is a MIG welding machine by MILLER and since it uses gas, argon gas plus carbon dioxide, it falls under GMAW ( Gas Metal Arc Welding ). There is another kind of MIG welding machine that does not use gas at all and it falls under FCAW ( Flux Cored Arc Welding ).

A plasma cutter is a different kind of machine used only for cutting metal, somewhat similar to an oxy-acetylene cutter and yet still different from it. An oxy-acet cutter can also be used as a welder which is also similar to a TIG welder which falls under GTAW ( GAS Tungsten Arc Welding ).

Hope this clarifies your inquiry and yes let's be thankful to sir JayL for sharing his step by step Mig welding procedures and wips.

As Sir Rosy said MIG Welder is for joining metal pieces together. Plasma Cutter is for cutting metals.

Para kasing kahawig ng casing nung nakita kong plasma cutter sa MIG Welder ni JayL.

Ginagamit din ba yang MIG Welder sa mga CNC Machine / Robot to automate fabrication?
The one is saw is Plasma CNC for metal cutting.

CNC Machine is one of the things i want to do as a project. I'll post it here as soon i started building it.
