Compensating for a small previous warp of the base

The previous error ... wrong metalworking table ... the wood moves easily with the metal .... for now just clamped it to the saw horse for added stability.

Btw, why extended the bars sideways? That good for more stability up to a point pero for strength it should be added below or above the original bars/tubing right?

That's to extend the front casters out a bit more. There will be some tube support down also when I install the lowering attachment for the tank. That's good you reminded me I will extend it a bit more towards the front for added stability.

Here the 2nd tier is tack welded. I need to weld this without clamps and have to contain movement.

My strategy ... a lot of tack welds and to go a bit colder on the first pass. None the less it's just 1.5mm square tubes so I can even weld it sheet metal style. One tack here ... one tack there to balance forces.

Reminds me of Armand's WIP. Cart looks like a chair to me. LOL

2nd Tier full welded without any issue. Sometimes I think that metal distortion management is more about technique and patience rather than using a lot of clamps. Of course a combination of all three is still better.

Now time to build the additional base to lower the Tank's center of gravity. The cart is 3 1/2" above ground and I intend to lower the tank up to 2 1/2" down.

I don't grind welds that won't be seen anymore like on the undersides. All else is level one grind ed. Means that aesthetics is not that much on an issue so grinding is limited to the use of grinding and flap discs only.

Square tubing is a good building block. You can stack up one on each other.

I start the section for lowering the tank center of gravity by 2 1/2 inches. It will consists of adding 1 1/2" and 1" square tubes.

Jarod ... I extended it a bit going to the front as per your suggestion ... for more support stability.

Dry fit ....

The rear wheels will be mounted using angle bars.

Once the basic cart is completed then the fun part comes ... accessorizing the WIP.

Jay, will that chopsaw be housed in the cart as well? can you cut with it in the cart or will it just act as a storage for it?

Temporary storage only. Both my chop saws will live on their own future cart.

Hmmmm yes it can cut max 2" or even more when the abrasive blade becomes smaller.
