Re: MIG Welding Newbie

Thanks Willy .... I'm hoping the cart will make my welding easier now. It was a pain when the gas tank was chained to the wall thus the welder had limited movement due to the short hose length.

@ Jon

Thanks bro. I noticed too that I gained some more additional shop space since some tools are in the cart now.

@ Jarod

Funny I was thinking about painting the tank too. I called Atgas and my friend there advised me to wait ... he will find me a better tank. What color do you think is good looking?

I think it's fuchsia bro.

...What color do you think is good looking?

Funny you asked because I tried to research for gas tank color coding before I suggested for the tank to be painted. The fact is, there are no standard codes as it varies from each country and jurisdiction. Also, it's the "collar" color of the gas that follows not of the tank's body*.

In that case, you can color it just the way you could identify it with the rest of your tanks. Besides, it's for personal use and you're the only one who's going to use it so identify it to your taste. As industrial-taste of a man you are, no one stops you to choose which would satisfy your little metal kingdom. Hope these help.

Re: MIG Welding Newbie

Thanks Jarod for posting the info. This will create proper safety awareness .... I did not know there was a new gas standard color scheme being implemented , at least over Europe. Looks like it's the shoulder ( collar ) paint that's being used as identifier. Probably I would paint all my tanks black with corresponding shoulder color identifier.

I don't think suppliers here use any standard codes but from what I have seen they follow their own color scheme. LOL ... very low safety standard (? ) but why follow them when we can have something better.

i.e.given a chance in case of fire it's better to take out flammable cylinders first than inert ones ... provided one knows which one is which ... or maybe if we follow more widely accepted standard colors they will get more confused LOL but at least from a legal point of view it could be a plus factor ... maybe
