yes... among other projects

@king
kudos to you if you pull it off, but i hope you know what you're getting into. i know someone who's pro cycling career ended when his fork broke under him.
he never trusted "katay" frames, and was always suspicious of non factory frames.
those dedacciai zero tubes are reported to be very very thin.

Re: oxyacetylene torch advice pls.
brass would be fine and usually brazing is done with the frame on a jig to get proper positioning and alignment, classic bikes also have bracing between joints as a stiffener and also for aesthetics......try doing some test welds first on the material of choice to see if it wets properly, sometimes i use silver flux dissolved in methanol for better wetting instead of the usual borax flux....hth.
Re: oxyacetylene torch advice pls.
bracing between the joints, are those what they call lugs?

Re: oxyacetylene torch advice pls.
I wont be making katay welding. I plan to do it on Reynolds tubing. For learning/testing I plan to use scrap bike tubes.
I will not be using investement cast lugs that is why I will be fillet brazing... lugless welding using ace requires one to fillet braze the joints. I just have to get the mitering of the tubes spot on since sloppy mitering weakens joints as I am told.
BTW I already got my jigs ready to start on a simple project.

Re: oxyacetylene torch advice pls.
mga sir question lang po.meron po akong tange butted tubing noon,butted sya manipis.di ko na maalala kung anong klaseng tange tube sya,prestige ba or ano kasi matagal na un.pinaasembol ko sa isaang lokal frame builder dito sa province namin sa cotabato.di umubra.nabubunot ang tubes sa lugs.akala ko di lang marunong sa mamahaling chromoly tubing ung gumawa.and then it so happen na nagbakasyon noon si Nonet dito sa amin, I think kilala nyo rin cya,so pinarepair ko ulit ung frame.pero sadly ganun pa rin after a few months use.ano pong reason dun.ung lokal frame builder dito kasi walang sablay sa mga ordinary hi tension steel tubing.pero dun sa tange butted pumalpak.pati si Nonet (deceased/a famous frame builder during the marlboro tour era) palpak din.bakit po kaya? :confused:
Good morning po, newbie question - are acetylene welds the same as stick welds in terms of strength in joining metals? For example I want to join two GI pipes to fix a dog cage instead of stick welding , can acetylene welding achieve the same bonding strength?
Maraming salamat po.
