Re: Air compressors

A BIG YES !! Only thing is Ms Mimi is not handling anymore IndustrialSupply143, a certain Joseph S. has been deligated, now handling the marketing aspect, Mimi got promoted if we may call it to a higher level of management, but she said she will still be supporting PHM members though she is already out of the marketing side.

Re: Air compressors

Ditto on Rosy's comments re EY and Industrial143.

Got my compressor from them. Had a problem: adjustment of the relief valve. They were trying to explain to me over the phone how to fix it but decided it was better to send it back for adjustment. They did and topped up my oil in the process.

Very responsive.

Re: Air compressors

If and when you get home and the time comes to buy your equipment try to get popular and well reviewed models. After sales warranty and product servicing are your most important concerns whether it's for DIY or business purpose. Most of us here have compressors and VESPA is just one of those popular brand that the locals prefer. There are many hi-end brands too but your usage has to warrant their price. Good luck!

Re: Air compressors

HI there seelinkit,

There are several factors or possibilities why a compressor burns out or becomes defective.

1. You could probably overworking your air compressor causing it to overheat.

2. Increase friction due to lubrication failure. You have to check your oil level regularly and never let it dry out.

3. If its emitting some white smoke, then their could be some winding insulation damage that leads eventually to winding burns. Better have it checked immediately before the entire motor and compressor stalls on you. 😮

4. Inadequate cooling and ventilation in and outside the compressor and location.

5. ETC...ETC

Re: Air compressors

I got a 1hp belt-driven Vespa air compressor last Wednesday from E.Y. Industrial Sales, Inc. Now that weekend is near, I plan on working on it before I get to use it for auto detailing.

Here are my concerns:
1) What's the max PSI that I can set for it?
2) What oil will I have to keep on hand to lube it when the oil comes down?
3) What's the CFM for the unit that I got.
Finally, what are the things that I have to remember to keep it in good shape (aside from not actually using it... Haha!)?

By the way, I'll be using it mostly for auto detailing. My device requires 116-130psi so I'm thinking if I can max its pressure capacity.

Thank you.

Myself I own same compressor model.

Here are my concerns:
1) What's the max PSI that I can set for it?

I set mine at 110 to 115 PSI cut off

2) What oil will I have to keep on hand to lube it when the oil comes down?

Shell SAE30 Monograde Oil

3) What's the CFM for the unit that I got.

215L per minute ( you can google equivalent CFM )

Finally, what are the things that I have to remember to keep it in good shape (aside from not actually using it... Haha!)?

Drain it of condensed water regularly.

By the way, I'll be using it mostly for auto detailing. My device requires 116-130psi so I'm thinking if I can max its pressure capacity.

What is this device or tool?

Thank you.

Install a pressure regulator and water trap.

Re: Air compressors

Thank you, sir JayL, for that information. I guess I'm good with 115psi. That's also the max that I set. Now I know that my compressor has approx 7.5cfm. I am draining it of water too everytime I finish using it. I get surprised at how much water accumulates after roughly three hours of using it.

By the way, my tool is a Tornador Black . Actually, it requires 8 to 9.6 bars. That's roughly 115psi to 130psi. But I can manage with what I'm currently getting. I can't buy a bigger one because I have to consider mobility in my auto detailing sideline. Anything bigger with my current one will mean that I'll have to get rid of my mobile service.

By the way, when I make use of my device, my compressor tends to recharge from time to time. For instance, when I'm detailing a sedan's interior, I use my device for roughly one minute then it recharges again. I continue using my device until the compressor's pressure reaches 6 bars then I rest my Tornador and allow the compressor to fully charge. My question is, how much time should I allow the compressor to rest before it should start recharging?

Thank you in advance. 🙂

EDIT: I am planning to use an extension cord that's about 10 feet. May I ask what specs of extension cord should I use. Thank you.
