Re: all about Air Compressors

V try to check this one too. I did inspect this at LYS when it was on sale. Looks beefy.

http://www.sulit.com.ph/index.php/view+classifieds/id/1005994/Powercraft+air+compressor+2+stage+vertical+type?referralKeywords=powercraft+compressor

Timber's Asturo gun seems to be happy with his 2 HP Vespa compressor.

http://www.spraygunworld.com/products/Asturo/WB%20Kit/IndexWBII%20ExtremeWood.html

The Finex 3000 gun I have chokes on a 2 HP Vespa.

http://www.tcpglobal.com/spraygundepot/shafx.aspx

So I reckon the lower cfm guns like the Asturo or probably the Astro Evo will do the trick if you want to stick with the 2.5 HP Powercraft.

http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=APEVO4014-18&Category_Code=LESE

Mini guns should not be a problem.

Hope this helps.

Re: all about Air Compressors

like Jay said Doc, tip size is not the determining factor sa cfm rating ng spraygun... guns like finnex requires 9 to 13cfm, so depending on the gun, a 2hp cpmpressor might not be enough.... best to get a lower rating gun or a bigger compressor :twister3:

Re: all about Air Compressors

The Speedaire Compressor spare parts arrived.

A replacement / conversion pressure switch manufactured by Condor.

http://www.condor-usa.com/products/MDR-F.htm

The Solberg Air Intake Filter

The Weksler Liquid Filled Gauges. Very high quality. Too bad not available at Amazon anymore as I wanted to get a few more. My idea is to standardize all gauges in the shop airline piping setup for a more consistent pressure reading throughout the air delivery system.

Will find another source. Probably I'll bring some extra units next time for those who want to try these. Larger gauge faces at 2.5".

Anytime. I just want to double check the pressure switch part first and study it a bit more.

Re: all about Air Compressors

@V Go go go ka na ba sa 2.5 HP Powercraft?

Started to repair the compressor today.

Replace pressure switch, gauges and filter.

Replacement pressure switch. If only I knew before hand then I could have saved $18 purchasing this direct from the manufacturer instead of Grainger. The new switch uses Pozi drive screws.

Bigger 2.5" gauges make adjustments easier and you can even read / estimate the pressure while being far away from the gauge.

I think I'll get a 2"long pipe and a straight elbow for the Solberg filter so I can mount it upright where it could suck cooler air away from the hot pump.

Bitin. It's a Sunday and I don't have the proper wire connectors to hook the power & motor cables to the switch. Hopefully tomorrow this baby is going to start official duty. LOL

Re: all about Air Compressors

would it be cheaper to buy a telescope Jay so you can see the reading better? that way you need not change all your gauges... hehehehe :boom::boom::boom:

Re: all about Air Compressors

Got the proper connectors today. Insulated rated for 15-20A.

Channellock 909 Crimping Tool with Cutter. Purchased the last one from Panda.

This is a very good tool for crimping. It works for insulated and non-insulated. There are other more expensive ones but I found this one to be the best bang for the buck.

Channellock 909 Crimping Tool with Cutter ( Made in USA )

http://www.amazon.com/Channellock-909-Crimping-Tool-Cutter/dp/B00004SBDI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=industrial&qid=1306738652&sr=8-1

German designed Pressure Switches. If they say it will cut off at 135 PSI then at exactly 135 PSI it will cut off. Unless the pressure gauge is off mark in its calibration.
Cut in pressure is set at 100 PSI.

As a safety precaution it is always good to test compressor safety valves. At least I check mine every month or so. Just pull the ring and it should release pressure. If it's stuck then that's not a good sign.

Solberg has a permanent customer now. I like the result so much that I'm contemplating getting filters for the 2 HP Vespa. The high pitched ear piercing sound is gone. Compressor is still noisy ( nature of the beast ) but much better. Now it's just like a Gixer 1000 with tune intake and exhaust compared to a 250cc Enduro with a cut muffer before. . LOL
Sa wakas natapos din WIP ng Speedaire. Lots of work. The price to pay for buying a used non operative tool. :whipass:
