Re: all about Air Compressors

Hi guys! Finally...whew that took awhile to read from page 1! I'm glad I found my way here. Very interesting indeed. I learned a lot. Anyway I do have questions if you don't mind. I was contemplating on building myself a compressor for my hobby. I don't require much hp, 1/4hp will suffice. I know Vespa offers one but it is loud and I paint mostly at night due to time constraints. My problem is sourcing the parts locally. I'm in need of the following:

1. A pressure switch (air) - I was able to find a shop that sells one here, I'm from Baguio btw, but the other shop that I went to told me that I could use a switch intended for water, anyway it's just the same. Or is it? Price is almost 2/3 less of that for the air. I need your take on this. Brand suggestions?
2. A pressure regulator+water trap (I've decided to get a similar make and model to what sir timber had installed on page 1) I would probably just change the gauge. Option B would be to buy an air regulator from BR tools then an air filter/drier from Eagle tools...
3. A check valve. 1/4". Thinking of getting one from ebay together with item 2 but if there is a one-stop shop where I can get most of these parts locally then better. Shops in T. Alonzo, Binondo? kept popping up as I read. Problem is I don't know my way around the metro. Hehe Will beseech the help of a friend nalang.
4. Air filter. I saw one here but I forgot the brand. Starts with "S".
5. Pressure gauges. For air.

As for the other parts I already have them (caster wheels, copper tubings, fittings etc). I will be using a ref compressor btw. I just need suggestions on what particular brands are good. I'm not looking for something high-end. But more importantly, a shop where I can get most of the parts once I venture down there. Thanks guys.

Excellent choices in hose and filter. I also purchased the Goodyear rubber hose. If it was a bit lighter it would have been perfect. None the less I just use a short 1/4" leader hose when I use it for spray painting so as to make the gun easier to maneuver..

Re: all about Air Compressors

@jay,

favor naman bro...i am no expert with air compressors eh.

yesterday, was reading the details of the powercraft upright models and like i told you before i am eyeing on the their 150 liter 2.5HP model specifically the PAC 25120V.
http://toolsfromus.com/pc_portable_aircom_pac40150v2s.html

the specs says...operating pressure 85-115 psi...i am confused by what it meant.

does it mean i cant use my hvlp guns? (with suggested psi at below 30)

please help!

thanks (anybody can chime in naman...thanks thanks!)

V what is important in the specs is the cfm rating. most guns need around 9cfm at 40 psi... the 85-115psi is just a specification wherein the compressor starts and stops. meaning if it reaches 115psi, the motor stops and if it lowers to 85 or less, it restarts.
Know what you gun requires first....... then choose wisely, I went the opposite direction and got a gun with 5-6cfm rating making it easy to choose a compressor.....

Re: all about Air Compressors

@timber,

bro, that's my post..and not ding hehe (you forgot your eyeglasses ha!!!)

anyway, that compressor cfm rating is around 7 and my gun's requirement is also 7..and works ideally at around 15-45 psi..and best at 21 psi.

but i am sure i can regulate that on and off below that 85-115 as suggested by the the manufacturer like what i do with my present 0.5HP compressor just to drive my brads working between 60-80 psi..meaning it fires up at 60 and stops at 80 psi.

thanks btw!
