Re: all about Air Compressors

I think this view ring window type applies mostly for single head piston models like Vespa or similarly built brands. If you notice for double pistons V-type or single in line they have dip sticks to gauge the oil depth. Some compressors I have noticed particularly the single piston Vespa perform differently w/ oils above the 5/8 level but this is just my experience. I agree on periodically checking the quality of oil.:)

I will put less oil on my Vespas on the next oil change. I think the 1 HP is due now.

Re: all about Air Compressors

how do you know when to change the compressor's oil? should it be done every 6 months or every year? what specific type of oil should we use? thanks!

Re: all about Air Compressors

That seems to be a improvised compressor using the compressor of an airconditioning unit. Either loose compression, or the cutoff switch is set too low.

Dumb mistakes will always be dumb mistakes, unless . . . . you learn from it, and then it will be learning experience.

Re: all about Air Compressors

Yes that compressor looks familiar, maybe its from an aircon unit or a refrigirator, hahaha, ang talas ng mga mata ni bigfoot !!!

Medyo OT lang ito bro !!

@ sam_0115,

It seems you are new here and have just joined PHM a few days back, bro, its been a customary practice here that you start by introducing yourself first before you can reply or join conversation, maybe you could tell us where you are from, what you do, your profession, your hobbies etc., you know a little backgrounder, we would like to know everyone here and so that you can be welcomed by the admins formally and properly. There is a forum here where you can introduce yourself, just scroll down the PHM index.

No offense brad, tip lang ito kasi all of us members here went also through that procedure/process.

Re: all about Air Compressors

Apologies sir rosy, i did not know nor read that it is necessary/must to introduce first before you join a conversation as this is not common as far as joining forums is concerned.

Just a suggestion, i think make it a "must" or "rule" for newbies to understand and comprehend. I also saw a newbie who introduced himslef but no welcome was given.

I'm also an admin myself in an automotive forum and to avoid this kind of confusion from happening all over again, make it rule so newbies would feel more welcome.

No offense din sir rosy, para lang din order ang lahat (my opinion po) since pareho naman tayong taga Rizaleno, I'm from San Guillermo, Morong, Rizal to be exact 🙂 , isang tambling sa bayan nyo 😀

WALA PONG ANUMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: all about Air Compressors

Hi guys

I recently inherited a very very old compressor from my late father- inlaw. I fixed everything up to the point it worked. I was able to use it with my nailer and paint gun. Recently i discovered a small hole under the tank. The size of the hole is like a small monggo bean. Can this leak be fixed or should i just buy a new one? Some say you can weld it. The tank is very rusty outside and i think inside as well. I hope someone will shed light on this. Thanks in advance

Re: all about Air Compressors

Even if you get that hole repaired, most likely there are other parts that are almost rusted through.

Continuing to use that tank is very dangerous. If I were you I wouldn't spend time and effort repairing that tank. I'd just have it replaced.

Google for images of "exploding compresor tank" and you'll see what I mean.

Re: all about Air Compressors

I agree with Joey81 .... the danger it pose is not worth it. Don't use the compressor tank anymore.

Ok lang ba kung yung generic na THB brand na air filter/regulator ang gamitin ko?
