Re: all about Air Compressors

At least if I ever run into some problems most of you can help me. Research mode muna. 🙂

About the Air Eraser. I've watched a review of it on Youtube and the user says it requires at least constant 30 PSI to work. I think it's the same size with an Air Brush. I think this is a great tool for sandblasting small objects especially if your compressor isn't that powerful.

Re: all about Air Compressors

From my experience with Vespa's I noticed that the model you posted is as close as the original units from Taiwan. What I noticed too is that Taiwanese models use LUNG TANG motors instead of those with VESPA stickers in the motor. A third noticeable difference is how the main body frame that holds the oil compartment is molded. Taiwanese models have that rounded edges in their frame compared to their Chaiwanese counterpart of w/c I noticed seem profoundly sharp at the edges. With the admins permission let me show you a sample image from the net via google. Here, have a look see...

I have both the original model much like the one you posted and this newer Chaiwanese. The Chaiwanese failed after 3 months of heavy use leaving me with a broken connecting rod, a broken piston ring and a piston pin with runout. The original model w/c was from '96 is still working well to this date. I changed the parts from the broken Chaiwanese with parts from Taiwanese models and they are now working fine. It has been 5 years now from the time of those parts switching.:2thumbsup:

Re: all about Air Compressors

So alin po ang peke? Haha! 🙂 Thanks

Re: all about Air Compressors

To be polite, Di sya fake. They are both Vespas but the pic I posted is their China made and that seems to be weaker in performance.

Re: all about Air Compressors

Yeeeeee, nakakatakot bumili baka masira kaagad. Hahaha! Yung China made ba, Made in Taiwan pa rin ang nakalagay na sticker? Baka may iba pang paraan para malaman kung china made or taiwan made.

Re: all about Air Compressors

Hello to everybody.

Just to let this thread going, i would like to ask some suggestions and info from you regarding air compressor.

I live in davao and i do not have a shop or do car restorations or any sort of thing, but i do love to DIY anything around the house. It's been a while since i last thought of getting an air compressor. I almost got a 2hp Spear and Jackson direct drive compressor, luckily i did some reading first instead of jumping right away and buying it.

Just to give you an idea, air compressors in davao specially the vespa is very expensive. A 1/4hp cost P5,500, A 1/2hp cost 10k, A 1hp cost 13k and 2hp cost 16k, a 2k or more difference from manila price.

Initially i wanted the looks and handiness of 2hp direct drive compressors like the vespa, powercraft and spear and jackson. My question is, what can these type of compressors do? are they limited to just inflating tires, a high pressure blower to clean engine bay, auto air filter? or can they cope up with spray painting like a car bumper?

I have read all threads about air compressors in this forum and most suggestion is to have atleast 2 hp for painting. Now i came accross Powercraft in one of the hardware stores here. Its a model PAC25120H (newer to what was in their website), 3HP standing tank with 120liters capacity, working pressure of 85 to 115 psi, CFM at 90psi is 7.5 and CFM at 40psi is 9.0. It is being sold at 16.5K last price. I know i do not have a shop but what i am thinking is future proofing my use of air compressor. Would that be ok?

Re: all about Air Compressors

Buy the biggest you you can afford. The bigger the more things you can do with it.

Looks like that Powercraft model you mentioned has a good price considering you are in Davao and the stock is available at hand.

I think my Vespa 2 HP has only 88 liters capacity.

Re: all about Air Compressors

Hi there cloydr,

Bro, I do have a Vespa 2hp direct drive compressor and use it mainly for air brushing, inflating my tires or for air blowing car engines and other stuffs. I have seen other people use it for painting cars, well I suppose they are making do with what they have but I think medyo bitin yon kasi maliit lang ang air tank capacity.

Well some outlets have higher prices, some have competitive prices similar in Manila regarding different HP and tank capacity. Now I'm saving up for 3HP single phase Vespa air compressor which will cost me roughly 36K+ from our favorite supplier here in Manila.

If you saw as you said a Powercraft 3HP standing tank with 120 lts capacity and selling for 16.5K, bro huwag mo nang pakawalan yan, that last asking price is really a steal, just make 100% sure it is in good working condition. Oh, check also the price if it is really 16.5K.

GOOD LUCK !!!!!! 😉

Re: all about Air Compressors

Update on my Power Craft purchase

I got the unit today. Got it for 16.5k last price. It came with a free T-shirt, warranty card and manual.

Here are some pics of the compressor.

The unit stands around 4 feet. Consumes less space.

Two air outlet, each with a gauge. A quick coupler on the left controlled by an air regulator in the middle and a standard air cock on the right.

Warning label, product model number and specifications.

Safety valve

Welded areas are thick and consistent

Tank drain valve, it is not located at the bottom. I think you need to tlit the tank a few degrees to drain the accumulated water.

Back view, metal protection and belt wheel/pulley

Re: all about Air Compressors

Crank case, dual piston

The 3HP motor, Pressure switch, oil breather

BIG wheels!

These are just cosmetic and external observation of the unit. So far the pressure switch, motor and crank case is functioning. It runs smoothly and quietly. Can't comment if it is durable for now
