- when a compressor specs says something about xx hp, is that the compressor or the motor?

I think cfm is the amount of air in minute that would take the compressor to reach an ideal psi.

HP together with rpm,single/3 phase, refers to the motor.
Compressor is about oil lubed,oil-less, piston,rotary,loud/silent

I would like also to learn how to move these parts appropriately especially on swapping tanks cus somehow im thinking if i did not do it right either the tank or the compressor heads will blow.

Any one knows whose the authorized distributor/service center of Vespa compressor. Our 1/4 HP compressor doesn't pump air to the tank.

E.Y Industrial Sales rejected to service the unit since it was not bought from them. The unit I had is already 11 years and it's different from E.Y. compressor.

Just happened to see one of this in person today. It isn't built like a tank but looks like it could be another choice considering the price compared to the 35-65K surplus available which I think are outrageously priced.

The problem with buying used compressors is you can't be sure about the tank. Previous owner might not drain it regularly or it had been on stock idle for sometime that rust developed in the tank. It could pose some real danger.

Small footprint as well. Yun nga lang if only you could buy the tank and slap a good surplus compressor head.

The tank is only 150 liters but the pump pressure can go 175 psi which means more air capacity. The pump two is dual stage too ( 3 pistons setup )

This Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor looks like it has good air output for a 3 HP unit. 11.3 CFM @ 90 PSI. At $599 it cost the same as a 4 HP Powercraft ( 27K pesos ) pumping 6.7 CFM @ 90 PSI.

Update : This Ingersoll Rand compressor is available locally for 57K after discount - IR Model SS3L3. The 5 HP model SS5L5 is 105K pesos.

For now not yet but am looking at options whenever I get chance. Local compressor prices are really ridiculous for the higher CFM class.

If I am not mistaken the IR posted above has 100% Duty Cycle.

I wonder what the CFM rating is for @40psi? Must be pretty high..but at 300lbs and for its size i would think the shipping price might be close to the compressor itself..

If it could be shipped for $200 plus change then it would be a good buy. Let's see when the quote comes.

I also contacted local Ingersoll Rand to get some price quotes. It's good to know all options considering scond hand run in the 40-60K range for these sizes.

Air compressor shipping charges from the USA are not very attractive ( whew is all I can say ) . Likewise these type of items are already taxable here.

That said I opted to local purchase a 2nd hand Speedaire 4B236B. It's a 3 HP 60 Gal unit pumping 10.3 cfm@90 psi ( barely enough to drive a Graco Finex 3000 spray gun ) or 9.0 cfm @135 psi. These older Speedaire compressors were actually built in the USA by Campbell Hausfeld. The motor is by Dayton USA.

The pressure switch is not working ( damaged during shipment ) so I'll need to order a replacement from the US or hunt one locally. For now I'm still undecided if I want to fully rebuild the compressor. From how it stands as is looks like the unit was not used that much and is still in excellent shape.

It came with some freebies too.

A 50 ft 3/8" rubber hose, a Chicago Pneumatic 3/8" air drill ( w a stuck up trigger )

a Craftsman Pro Electric Cord Reel 110V w/ overload breaker ( metal casing model and not plastic )

and a Speedaire pressure regulator and air tool oiler combo

All in all today's not a bad tool hunting day .... 🙂

I started tinkering with the compressor and accessories.

I was surprised to find clean and still white filters. Either the unit was very slightly used or the filters were replaced prior to shipping. The seller informed that the items were on storage for quite some time already. So far so good.

Not a trace of oil in the oiler too ... looks unused.

I did not check other forwarders. I'm sure they'll be in the same range more or less. This shipment is not a balikbayan box type shipment which are tax free as well.

If you want these sizes of cargo then better get a 40 ft container. Cheaper. Compressor Group buy ? 😮

I need one more filter / regulator for the spray guns. Planning the setup now.
