Re: all about Air Compressors

Anybody seen some Air Compressor Synthetic Oils being sold in the malls?

Thanks

What I've been using is the kind of compressor oil they use for car aircons, You'll find them in car aircon and refrigeration supplies around the metro. They have them in 2 weight sizes, 4 & 5 GS i think is the term for it. I got them for around 5-700/ gallon. Very stable and good heat threshold.

Re: all about Air Compressors

Had the same problem w/ one of my Quincy compressors and they sold me a replacement switch that worked fine. Though it was a different switch brand it did the job nonetheless. JOMERO might just have something that may work for you. You might want to browse at the shops around that street too. There are at least 4-6 shops dealing with Air tool parts as well as accessories. You just might find the gauge you want. I found a nice zinc alloy air valve to replace my old Vespa brass ball valves there.:p

Which Quincy compressor do you have Willy? I originally wanted a Quincy but had to budget for other stuff I need so I opted for this cheaper Speedaire. This Quincy is US built and from what I read is one of the best compressor manufacturer in the United States.

The seller gave me a discount of 5K so I will be able to replace the switch. Which brand and how much is the one you got for your Quincy.

Thanks so much for giving valuable inputs on this compressor repair.

Re: all about Air Compressors

The compressor sounded ok and smooth when we tested it. None the less I inspected the pulleys to make sure all is well. I noticed that these were a lot better than the Vespa pulleys I have. Smoother casting and looks well balanced. I left the factory alignment as it is as it looks good. The belt looks new and no signs of cracking whatsoever.

A little spray of WD-40 and blowing of compressed air just to keep things shinny and clean.

I have to do something about the feet. I don't want to bolt this to the floor. Will need something like hockey pucks ( which we might not have locally available ) or a type of suspension material I could use. Any suggestions.

None the less it sits well even like this when the motor and pumps are running.

Go Jay Go 😀

I'm having second thoughts Timb. If only Gerald is still here to do all the scraping and sanding then I would have definitely gone with new paint. Probably later when I get a new helper.

nothing like some scrap plywood, a holesaw and a drill press can't make. round pucks 1 1/2" high so the bolts can be recessed and you have bun feet for it :p

How about half plywood and half hard rubber? There's a shop in Evangelista that makes all kinds and shapes of rubber products from used dump truck tires.

Here they made these lifter pads for me sometime ago.

Re: all about Air Compressors

I've decided to place a main air control valve at the compressor itself. Just in case I need to modify / trouble shoot the air distribution system when it's in place and operational already.

These fittings are all in 1" , 3/4" and 1/2". I will be downsizing all these to 3/8".

The power of green muna tayo OZ. Magastos hehehhehe

Used stuff. Always good to rebuild or recondition before use. The filter / pressure regulator.

Here are some reasonably price liquid filled pressure gauges.

Re: all about Air Compressors

@ Willy

Called Jomera but seems like they only have Jap replacement pressure switches priced 6.5K above. He asked me to bring the sample also. None the less I decided to go ahead with an original replacement part from Speedaire. Cheaper by half but there will be a waiting time.

Thinking to get a Solberg Filter Silencer while I'm at it. This can help lessen the noise coming from the intake side.

Some Weskler liquid filled gauges would be nice as well.

Here's a sample install borrowed from GJ.
