"Hi everyone,i would like to ask which one is best and cheap paints"
quality almost always means more expensive than cheap counterparts..
for furniture making i still use the Boysen sanding sealer...and their oil based mahogany stain
for interior works on walls and ceiling, i use Davies now...acrylic based
for fine woodwork projects, i use Ace oil based polyurethanes, Minwax waterbased polyurethanes
i cant say which one is best but there are a lot more Brands out there than we can imagine and not necessarily reaching our shores...like Epifanes, Dulux, Ralph Lauren...
what is best for me is...1. it should have low or no odour 2. no lead 3. no VOC's 4. fast drying 4. easy to clean (on walls) 5. premixed
FYI, prices of locally available paints have at least a price difference between 25-50 pesos per gallon..not much..so you can still take home the more expensive and quality one..
shop around big stores...small hardware stores may sell their paints a bit higher than like shopping for paints in home depots.
eh btw...anu bang paint ang hanap mo? home use? automotive use? before humaba ang reply ko? hehe
Happy paint hunting!

Re: boysen,davies and island paints
Doc, where do you find Epifanes? Been looking for it for topside of my boat but I just had to settle for Sadolin Yacht?
@Bonsai
Like DocV, I use a variety of paints/varnishes depending on the application. My comment re Boysen was for everyday jobs all around the house.
BTW, whatever happened to Dutch Boy?

Re: boysen,davies and island paints
since we're talking about paint, what would you use for a gate?
1) epoxy - tough but uv sensitive
2) enamel - tough but grows brittle with time and will flake off due to the expansion cycles eventually
3) laquer - not uv stable but since it dries quickly you just apply it more often
4) roof paint - uv stable and flexible but is it too soft for the expected wear?
5) auto acrylic (no idea yet)
6) auto urethane? obviously anzahls good on cars so it' probably good for gates? though at it's price you need to be sure first...

I have clients who had their gate frames powder coated for longevity. The estimated life of the coating was 20 years. The gate was subjected to a chemical bath to control rust development and then was primed/colored by powder coating and then oven baked. They were charged by the kilo weight of the frame. One client spent 90/kg for a 300 kg frame w/c is about 2.5m x 3m in size (around 80.70 square feet per side X 2 back to back). She was originally quoted by a finishing contractor 80/square foot using auto lacquers but they estimated a re-coat every 2 years at current climate conditions. I guess if you analyze the figures she will save more on the powder coated system. Powder coated systems have been proven to last longer even in extreme conditions. I guess one has to design light weight frames to save on cost like Tubular metals and angular bars. This is practical especially for those who intend to retain a single color on their finish.:dollar:
