I'm wondering if I can use an inline pressure regulator, the ones used on air compressors, in reverse. I don't see why not since as far as I know these operated based on the pressure difference between one side and the other ... I could be wrong. Anyone have definite knowledge either way?

The reason I'm asking is I want to put a regulator on a vacuum pump. The vacuum pump will just try to pull a perfect vacuum but sometimes I won't want it to pull so hard.
