Hi,

I have primed metal with Epoxy Primer; but Epoxy Enamel Topcoat is not available in our paint stores. Can I use Acrylic Enamel instead as topcoat?

Also, what is the typical curing time for Epoxy Primers?

Lastly, Epoxy Reducers are not available. Is it Ok to use Lacquer Thinners for thinning?

Also, what is the typical curing time for Epoxy Primers? Depends on the amount of catalyst and reducer you add onto it,the more catalyst(drier) the faster it dries.

Lastly, Epoxy Reducers are not available. Is it Ok to use Lacquer Thinners for thinning? NO, better get the right reducer.

Thanks 🙂

About the catalyst, what is the maximum catalyst to paint ratio possible to make it dry quicker?

Also, I've read there's a "window time" for applying a topcoat, before the primer fully cures. Would this be applicable to all epoxy primers? The Davies technical info sheet does'nt mention this.

Re: Ok to Paint Acrylic Enamel Over Epoxy Primer?

Amount of catalyst to be added greatly depends on how fast you can consume the paint bro. For epoxy paints, it is better to get a slow dry rather than fast dry since ime once you add the catalyst it will start to dry at once, minsan pati sa brush matutuyo na agad kahit Hindi mo pa naipapahid. So usually doon paladin yung reducer, to retard drying and for ease of application. Mix in small amounts Lang muna. As for curing time, basta dry to touch ok na provided you apply thinly ha, Hindi yung malapot. The secret is to apply several thin coats rather than 2 thick coats.
