Need to know the tank size, pressure limit and the compressor capacity (1hp or bigger?) of your unit so we can suggest cut-in and cut-off settings. What is the application, Air tools or paint spray or others? Oh, if you don;t mind also the brand so we can advise the actual handling capacity of your unit based on similar owners experience.

Re: pressure switch adjustment

There is a term called "Pressure differential" or "pressure range" by manufacturers. I don't know what model you have (Hitachi Bebicon, Iwata, Swan or Toshiba) but most of these have similar pressure play between 35 psi cut-in up to 115 psi as in your case. Cut-out is preset usually at the max by the manufacturer but cut-in we adjust to suit best our minimum lag time till the unit fills the tank at the preset max. As in the case of your impact driver, a rate of 90 psi is the max pressure it can handle therefore your free play is at least from 70 psi to 90 psi. Depending on the pressure switch installed there are models even w/ higher capacities on the cut-in side. based on the tank capacity and head unit size. Also take extreme caution w/ the adjustment screw or nut 'coz they break easily when over cranked. Hope this guides you well.

Pressure control Switch sets the free play as mentioned. Pressure regulator sets the maximum output to prevent tool or equipment damage. Air input will move up to the cut-off but the output is still limited by the regulator. The output will be as it is at any level but not exceed the limit of the regulator. Hope this helps.
