Please post your spray guns, accessories & compressor experiences so we can discuss and help each other enhance our knowledge on this subject.

Graco Finex FX3000 w/ 1.4mm Tip for base and clear coat.

An air hog. My 1 HP Vespa ( 88 Liters cap ) cannot cope up with it. I need to put in series another 2 HP Vespa to work it out satisfactorily.

I do need a dedicated primer gun with at least 1.8 mm tip. Any suggestions on what is available locally?

Re: Spray Painting Talk

Here's my finish gun:

Asturo WB mini stainless steel spray gun. Got the master kit so i have 0.8, 1.2, 1.5 fluid tips. This is smaller than the regular sized spray guns so it takes getting used to especially if you got bigger hands. It operates at 3-4CFM. Great for smaller sized compressors. The cup is aftermarket as the included plastic cup is too small.

My compressor is a 1hp Pro Force. It produces almost 3 CFM@40psi. Charge time is ok, but it is damn noisy! When i have the budget i will upgrade to a bigger vespa. The included airhose was a flimsy pvc(?) coiled airhose. I got a rubber Goodyear hose instead.

What is important to note, specially with HVLP/LVLP guns is that CFM (cubic feet per minute/volume of air) consumption is the primary consideration rather than PSI.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

Did you get the Goodyear rubber hose locally?

My 1 HP Vespa . Hardworking and still kicking after more than 2 years now. IIRC I changed oil 3 times already.

I purchased this generic spray gun in Binondo for around 1K + ( excluding air regulator) . This one is ok with my 1 HP Vespa. I think it's got a 1.5mm tip. I don't even know all the specs because the manual it came with was very confusing.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

As for the primer guns, iv'e never seen a gun with a 1.8 tip here yet. I do know where to get Sata guns but i'm not sure if they have primer guns there.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

I too have not seen a generic spray gun w/ 1.8mm tip locally.

I reckon a Sata brand will be an overkill primer gun for me. Too expensive.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

haha yep overkill yun. I saw one of their guns at P30,000. Although i think bawi kagad yun if you own a custom paint car shop.

I too have a generic gun exactly like yours, that is my primer gun. With both of that you will see the difference between the HVLP and conventional guns..very big difference in overspray.

How much CFM does your vespa put out?

Re: Spray Painting Talk

The plate on the unit just say 215L / m displacement.

I need a primer gun with a bigger tip. 🙁

That's around 7 cfm i think.

Han's tools have a lineup of spray guns, but i never really asked. Maybe they have a 1.8 there?

As for vapor control, i have none. Where can i get a set of filters which dont cost too much?

I purchased a generic one in T. Alonzo for 750 pesos and seems to work because it catches a lot of water. It's directly attached to the compressor.

However if I get to setup a car painting booth in my garage then I will have to pipe out compressed air to be able to cool it down prior to filtering.

I also have a water trap for air tools but sometimes I use it for painting too. This one is by Campbell Hausfeld.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

Looks like a decent unit. How does that connect to the comp? Does it screw into the compressor?
