Re: Spray Painting Talk

I would choose gravity myself.

Have you checked the post on the Creston Gun. Maybe we could ask the member for more feedback.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

I have no experience with gravity type but I already tried painting the ceiling using the suction-type spray gun.

Its a bit annoying because if you tilt the gun upwards too much it'll suck only air, especially if the can is already low on paint.

With the gravity type I think you can swivel the paint can, so you still have a continuous flow of paint even if you are spraying straight up.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

My friend was determined to buy a second hand 5HP Dual Stage 80 Gallon US Made Compressor. This was what he found.

Worthington. Needs a new pressure switch and a full paint job.

Compressor was dismantled at the sellers place for transporting. He paid 11K for it from a guy in Antipolo.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

What is your budget? There are many quality spray guns for auto finshing, from SATA, Iwata, DeVilbiss to Asturo, Finex, CATechnologies, etc. I think you can't go wrong with any of these..

Re: Spray Painting Talk

Here you can find a lot of info regarding auto painting and finishing in this site.

http://autobodystore.com/forum/index.php

For midrange prices of spray guns you can probably look into the Devilbiss and Finex lines since you have the compressor to drive these guns.

You will need several guns or at the least tip sizes for Primer , Base Coats and Clear Coats.

For high end guns wherein budget is not much of an issue then Sata and Iwata seems to be on top of the game.

Sorry I just saw your post now. None the less we're currently doing clear coating by panels ... hilamos.

We use 1.8mm or 2.2 ( high build ) mm for Primer, 1.4mm for base coat and clear. However I ordered another gun for clear with a tip of 1.3mm but have not arrived yet. For touch ups 1.0 mm tip.

The most tedious part in painting ... masking ......
