Re: Spray Painting Talk

Good Evening Sirs,
Quick Questions :
1) What type of hose should I buy? How much does it cost? My Compressor is 1/2 HP Vespa
2) Anyone familiar with "Eagle" The spraygun/tools that you can buy @ ACE Hardware? Is it Good? I'm on a low budget and I'll be trying to paint my car as a project. Thanks!

Re: Spray Painting Talk

As for the hose, i suggest a 3/8" dia one, of course use a hose specifically made to be used for air.
As for the spray gun, before i got my asturo i was using a creston spray gun. I still use it for primer but i did use it for color coats before and it was ok. It was less than a thousand if i remember correctly.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

hi guys! just joined here. I bought a JOHNSON spray gun for 3,500 pesos in a small but known hardware in downtown Cebu city,It comes with 1.4 and 2.0mm tips all I have to do is to swap tips 1.4 for base and clear while 2.0 for hi-build primers. I've looked at the internet and they're the same design as the TCP Global or Harbor Freight guns. I'll be using this to spray on my 1966 Mercedes Benz 200 (palikpik style) that I'm restoring now, I test spayed on the hood first and it's very nice! I'll be spraying the car with hi-build primer if the weather is good, it;s raining here today.

BTW, I have trouble posting photos even w/ my Imageshack 🙁

Do you have a picture of the spraying? Also what is the store name and location in Cebu, I am in Cebu at the moment and could use another gun for other applications...

Yes I do but I can't post the photo here. I bought the gun at Cebu Southern Hardware (??) in Plaridel st. there are a lot of hardware stores along that road up until you reach MC Briones St. (Carbon Market area), BTW the gun I bought there was their last stock. Also I bought water separator (JOHNSON) at Fil-Ann hardware just beside where I bought the gun, I saw lubricator for pneumatic tools and water separators for air compressors and for spray gun there.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

It's a good color .... clean looking. Is that an original color issue for the car's year model? I wonder how many colors did MB release for the 200.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

about 15 different colors including 2 tone and the expensive metallics, I think Olive green,Ivory,Black and Midnight Blue are standard colors, they share with other models (230S,250SL,280SL,300SE/SEL and the 600). The 200 produced bet. 1965 to 1968. Bar-8 refers to W115 models a.k.a. new generation, it's successor, to prevent confusion among them.

e.g. if 1968 200 then it's W110 chassis
1968 200/8 then it's W115 chassis.

BTW, I'm a member of Mercedes-Benz Club Philippines.

Re: Spray Painting Talk

In my opinion cars like this particular model are best restored with all original looks and parts. Other opinions might be different.

However when I was abroad I saw a lot of the newer MB modified by AMG.

I hope you post your build here too.
