Re: wood staining

I believe what you need is a grain pattern tool. Another forum member, rosy, had experience with this when he made his kitchen door.

Just search the forum for "kitchen door" and you will find his thread.

go to ACE/Handyman/True Value or any other hardware and grab a graining tool usually nasa paint or varnish section yan.

Re: wood staining

Experienced painter cotton cloth lang ang ginagamit pang haspe or paggawa ng wood grain. It is also important na tama yun kulay ng base color to achieve the wood grain, base color usually beige to brown ang kulay then adjust na lang sa oil stain.

Re: wood staining

Yes bro bryant is right, another substitute for this rubberized graining tool is a lowly cotton cloth. You just need to have a lighter base so that when you apply a darker shade of oil stain on top and do the wiping, the oil stain darker color comes out.

I have a compadre who does coffins for a living and have seen him how he does faux wood grains on ordinary Lawanit panels they use for coffins outer layer. After the assemblage, he sprays the external surface of the lawanit with some coatings of beige or light ochre shades of flat enamel paint then after which dries it for several days and then start working on it again by applying darker shades of oil stains then start to wipe off some of the stains producing large sort of wood grains and when completely dry, varnishes it and it would really come out very impressive. 😉

HAHAHA, it was like an assembly plant, seeing different coffins lined up at different stages of assembly/constructions. 😀

Re: wood staining

Really nice talking about wood staining and also really nice above comments, guys, i also want to say something about wood staining, There are two essentially different effects that people try to accomplish by discoloration wooden. These are two different primary requirements. One primary objective is to improve the natural wooden feed styles, and the other is to accomplish an even shade overall tone....
