I keep getting request on making several changes in the site, May I suggest we post your suggestions here and I will request our site owner if he can accomodate these changes.
please keep in mind that this is his site and he earns nothing out of it... yet 😀 so please be understanding and considerate in making requests and suggestions.

I recommend the whole site be divided into four main threads as follows:
1. woodworking of course
2. metal working, although automotive and vehicular modifications are part of diy, i suggest they fall under metalworking.
3. masonry
4. electronics and electricity

gardens, scooters, automotive I believe has plenty other sites, I believe this is not the correct place for it. but tooling in relation to those is acceptable.

now lets look at your suggestion guys....

Re: format suggestions for the new PHM site

Hyperlinks are now only highlighted (underlined and colorized) only when the mouse pointer happens to be over them, rather than all the time.

Not a big deal, but this represents loss of (visual) information. Suggest that previous and conventional/expected behavior be restored, so that it is not necessary to move the mouse around to know where the links are.

How about automotive and the like fall under a Garage section?

Looks like it's there now already.

Re: format suggestions for the new PHM site

While I've only been a PHM Member for a few weeks, I've been fortunate enough to be part of the upgrading of the site. I've had my share of moving around the different forums and their respective threads, as well as trying to join the various discussions.

In light of this topic, I'd like to offer my suggestions based on my impressions and experience as a newbie Pinoy Handyman...

- I second sir Timber's idea of a Metalworking Forum, since I too would like to expand my horizons in this field, and the nearest topic to it is the Welding Newbie thread under the Tools section. However, in relation to this, I think Sir JayL's suggestion of an automotive section is good, and that all automotive related discussions be under this banner (I just checked, the existing Garage section is still pretty functional)

- Would it be possible to consolidate the Home Building and Improvement and Home Maintenance and Repairs into one topic? I wanted to post something about my Home-related works but can't decide which topic to put it, since both have almost the same description.

- May I suggest we make a thread or topic just for showing hauls / acquisitions / personal work setups / etc? Often times I wold follow a discussion when suddenly it gets derailed when a member posts his recently bought tools and machines. Maybe these posts can be better appreciated if we had a section that was dedicated to each member's personal collection / workspace / aquisitions.

- I'd like to suggest that we keep the Gardening / Outdoors section as part of the PHM forums since I believe there's a lot of topics that could be explored here with regards to the field of DiY as well as an avenue for our more provincial members to share their experiences and knowledge. If ever, we could just refer any specific topics to the proper websites or forums for further study.

Again, these are just my suggestions based on my experiences as a new PHM member. Hopefully our admin will find them valid and usefull.
