Re: How about METALWORKS thread?

I totally agree.

I started a thread a month or so ago on how I can cleanly, properly cut a standard Aluminum 4"x1 5/8" box profile.

Somebody said, bring it to any Aluminum fabricator that we see all around. So I did and all of them rejected the work.

You see I have to bevel cut one side of each piece. I need about 15 pcs.

If anybody has seen on Discovery Turbo, the show 'American Chopper,' they always use an angle grinder with some sort of a metal cutter or blade that cuts through gauge 16 sheet metal.
Now that is something I might be interested in getting for myself so that I can do this project myself.

Anybody knows what I need to buy ? The 4" Angle grinder is easy to get, but what about that blade that cuts through the sheet metal ??

Thanks 🙂

Re: How about METALWORKS thread?

Probably it's a good idea to have this Metal Works Section so we can attract more metal working new members.

This is a good site to buy metal working related online items.

Makita sells a sheet metal shear....it cuts thru sheet metal much better than your aviation snips...i said on sheet metal..not on aluminum extrusions.

@JayL,

can you point to me the store selling cigweld welding electrodes.

id like to test one for myself..

i have an idle 300A arc welding machine, new, 1 year old and havent seen some real action..

another thing is the welding head/eye gear..the one you mentioned before that automatically change its color

Re: How about METALWORKS thread?

This is the address for Toolec. It's near Eastwood City.

(TOOLEC INCORPORATED) Bridgeview Building 171 E. Rodriguez Jr. Avenue Libis 1110 Quezon City Metro Manila
Phone: +63(2)6338920

I still use my fixed shade welding helmet as I have not made any decision yet which Auto Darkening Helmet to buy.

Try the Cigweld Electrodes. As long as you do only flat / horizontal position these would be a breeze to use. Just do some practice on a flat bar first to dial the amperage setting of the welder. On my Powercraft it's usually 170 A more or less.
