Timb

The new format looks a lot better. Is this a paid version now?

It seems to be faster too.

Re: PinoyHandyMan Admins and Moderators Brainstorming Thread

To PinoyHandyMan and the Admins,

HI, I know I'm a new moderator here, promoted by you guys a few months back, if that would be the appropriate word for it (promoted). I would just like to know what are my options and probably a bit of moderators special actions and tasks that I am entitled or should know.
I have researched in the net the role of a moderator in a forum and I think I have managed to do the functions enumerated or mentioned, I just don't know if its enough.

On a different note, would it be possible to add another moderator, more knowledgeable and adept to most question being thrown by new members coming in with regarding constructions, house finishing, plumbings, electrical etc . The reason I asked this, well its one way we can keep new members from coming back if their queries are answered properly plus this could also promote long discussions in turn keeping the forum alive.

I was thinking if you could consider Willy Fernando as a candidate for the moderator being a professional woodworker and well knowledgeable in his craft and other aspects of house constructions and beautification. I'm just not sure if he will be interested but nevertheless can he be considered? If he declines and not accept, I live it to the admins to choose a better candidate. So sorry to say this but I know I have my limitations, but trying my best here to answer queries by new members and promoting this forum. Hope you could give this some thought.

Thank you,
rosy

To our Moderators and Admins as well. Please help delete robot users if you find one. Probably a good time to clean the site up a bit. Too much of these crawlers inside now.

Re: PinoyHandyMan Admins and Moderators Brainstorming Thread

I am just curious here but was the username Mariam from Australia a spammer ? I have seen his/her post earlier this morning and now they have been deleted. Maybe we should have waited for more time to know her if she will respond properly since bro Ding has asked the new member to extend more information about his/her personality and I was suppose to second that motion.

I may be wrong on this, do correct me if I am but I'm careful too in just deleting a new registrant/members coz I have been checking from time to time members who are on line, particularly new names coming from VN. I know we also have a member coming from Aussie by the name of Bmac and have seen him post replies once in a while and not regularly, may be just lurking most of the time. No offense po to other mods or admins, I know we are all in this trying to make our forum/boards clean and organize.

Anyway lets wait for his/her reply message to the admin board if he/she is a spammer or not.

Re: PinoyHandyMan Admins and Moderators Brainstorming Thread

Hi rosy,

The user made other posts that are, although logically correct, are too general and don't really contribute to the discussion. She even replied to a thread that has been dormant for 3 years.

In thread "house renovation cost":
Cost will depend according to your project... If you want to renovate just a single floor then the cost is less, If you want to renovate 2 floors then the cost will increase and if you want to...

In "rats!!!"
Get a rat catcher by and place it where you see them... They will easily be trapped in that catcher and then you can throw them far away from your house that they will never come again...

In "wood encapsulation with epoxy resin & termite attack" (the ancient thread)
Termite is a great problem and for its treatment it depends on thinking and every one have different thinking for its treatment... Some use chemicals, resins and some take help from termite treatment...

I've seen this pattern before and it lights up my spambot sensor.

I may have been too aggressive with her posts. I'll undelete her post in the intro thread and unblock her account. Let's wait how she responds.
with her posts.
